Sidwell, Walters and Teixera front runners for the chopping block. Lol I'm speaking from Hughes's perspective. Will he want a player in the 25 who doesn't want to be here?

That's the best squad we have had since I have Bern watching Stoke (1978). Bojan,Shaqiri,Arnie.
Wow.

I'm speaking from Hughes's perspective. Will he want a player in the 25 who doesn't want to be here? Yes, or will he cut Wilson/Shaqiri as well? Sidwell being cut leaves us woefully short. It's Tex or Odem for me.

beyond belief that you can slag a guy like walters off with all the passion committment effort and no little skill he has shown for the club. He is a major reason we have survived in the top flight. He deserved better from the club and to slate him because he put a transfer request in is ludicrous- how do you know the club didnt ask him to do that???yet you can praise lazy sods like arnautovich and a player like bojan who lets face it has had half a dozen decent games...mind boggling

Sidwell, Walters and Teixera front runners for the chopping block. What an absolute load of shit. Walter has started most games and is consistently one of our better players.

So, the club have bids for a player, the club turn them down, stop him from leaving so they can teach him a lesson by leaving him out of the 25. You're deluded fella.

It will be either Texeira or Haugaard (Leave on loan) who won't be in the 25 i reckon, unless we know Ryan won't be back until January at the earliest.
Even if we loan Haugaard out though, we still probably would want to name in the 25 because if Butland or Given got injured we would need him for the bench, unless we trust Bachmann enough.

Hang on.
Who the f*** says Walters put in a transfer request? The media? The club??
It wasn't that long ago that Higginbotham put in a transfer request in order to move to Sunderland. A year later he was back with us, and welcomed with open arms..! What's more, it's since come out that the CLUB TOLD DANNY to submit a transfer request, so that the club "didn't look bad"..!
And it's not the first time that Stoke have done this, is it?? Who's to say that they haven't just made Jon Walters the scapegoat again..!?

I get what you're saying bud, but I don't think SJW is the type to spit his dummy out if he doesn't get his own way. He's a model professional and will no doubt get his head down and try and earn his place again. That's the way I see it anyway.

Or he could go the other way which was debated in another thread, that whenever we've signed someone to compete with Whelan, he's kept his head down, worked hard and displaced them from the team, whereas it looks like Walters has seen Shaqiri come in, which admittedly is a daunting prospect when you've been in the first team for the best part of 5 years, and instead of focusing on his game, has looked at the contract we've offered him and decided he'd rather move than fight for a place. Like I say he's got previous for forcing a move, I suspect Hughes will have a word with him after the dust has settled today.

I'm speaking from Hughes's perspective. Will he want a player in the 25 who doesn't want to be here? SJW put in a transfer request to force the club's hand: if you don't want me, then let me go where I can get the kind of cotract extension that you are refusing me. It didn't work, but he has always maintained that he wants to stay at the club, feels part of the furniture, etc.. He hasn't actually come out and said he doesn't want to be here. Crouch got a two year extension, and he's older than Walters. Now, okay, Crouch is an ex-England player with a profile that is beneficial to the club, but surely SJW deserves similar respect?

Jon Walters was given the same respect. A 1 year extension to his existing contract was a 2 year deal.

The club are going to keep three goalkeepers. If you think otherwise you really shouldn't be following football.
The one to miss out will be Tex, it has to be.
