That's the trouble when you do your business early ....people still think we should spend up until the deadline ....if we'd signed 3 of those players today instead of July and August we'd be buzzing We also broke out transfer record for a fee paid 3? Which 3? There's only one that got me excited. Afellay didn't even raise a semi! We've penny pinched again. Hopefully Hughes can make silk purse out of a sow's ear! Opinions mate

Stronger squad weaker first eleven - feels like we've lost ground to several of our rivals (Swansea, Crystal Palace, West Ham) = opportunity missed

I'm happy!
The only downside for me is that we look very short of quality in th centre of our defence with Ryan out injured.
Given and Johnson are good, proven signings
Shaqiri will turn out to be a diamond.
MVG is a young lad that is showing promise.
Afellay and Joselu have added to our strength in depth.
With all that said, we still haven't spent a great amount of money, so we've improved without spending stupid money.

Low net spend + a reasonably unbalanced squad = a relatively disappointing window. The fact Hughes was still trying, unsuccessfully, to add to it at 17.59, reinforces the point.

I'm happy with the business we've done, think we've got a really strong squad & can't wait for the next match.
A third top ten finish in-a-row looks a real strong possibility, great time to be a Stoke fan.

Glad silly season is over and we can get on with the season. I think we've got the strongest squad I've seen at Stoke in my lifetime and hopefully we'll see them start to gel over the next few weeks. Looking forward to seeing where it takes us.

My summary
looks like some very shrewd operators are running Stoke City these-days
HOWEVER
The entire season rests upon the return of our captain and leader
(I can only presume they have had very confident prognosis conclusions after Ryans Operation)

Glad the windows shut and we can all get on with it. We will get better as the season goes on. Would like to have seen another CB or defensive midfielder but it wasn't to be. Let's get behind them and get going now.

So we've spent approx. £9million in 5 transfer windows.
One day it will catch up with us.

Owners who want Premiership Football by scrimping and saving and filling the the squad with free signings.

Trigger = a) if it were your money
and B) If you could get players for free rather than, spunking tens of millions on fees and four year contracts, knowing damn well before you even start,
they will be pushing for moves in three years or less
wouldnt you (or any of the other moaners and knicker wetters) do exactly the same ?
(I know I would)

Don't think it's been a bad window overall, my only qualm is this back operation that Shawcross has had, surely this should have been looked into during the close season???

We signed one world class player, two or three with huge potential and a couple of solid experienced pros. The only really big issue is the middle of the park for me - we must hope the gamble on MVG pays off. The net spend figure can be deceiving (look at Southampton) - with a high level of incoming fees, it just shows we have good players that other teams want. We made decent money on our original investments in both Begovic and SNZ and used it to buy new players. We are a well run club and are not over-extending ourselves.

I'm very happy with the players we have......I am shocked we have not strengthened at the back Wash your mouth out with soap we have Wolfy who is a great 5th choice CB, obviously the manager who signed him rates him less than Wilson but hey ho, Glen Johnson ex England International FB who is OK going forward but a bit shit at defending but hey ho, we sold a fit Robert Huth to a rival in the same league , our Captain and first choice CB is possibly out all season, we are playing any fucker rather than Huth's replacement at CB other than that we are in fantastic shape looking nailed on for another record breaking season.

It's very early days in the season but I feel a few teams in and around us have done better than we have , of our new signings only Johnson has Looked an upgrade so far although I expect Shaq to make a good impact after the break . Hopefully the others will improve with games . We look very thin at centre half and central midfield so we need to,be lucky with any further injuries. I think we will drop into the bottom half with this squad but hopefully stay out of trouble , the next two home games look pretty important unless we can exploit Arsenals current weakness at home and win there

On Sky now that we couldn't agree terms with Jedenak!!!!! I expect season tickets to be significantly reduced in price come April. The Supporters Council need to start lobbying the club now.
