Will we appeal either of the reds?

No. We run the risk of an extra match ban for a frivolous appeal if we do. One of the games is the match at Fulham so in effect we're only losing the players for two Premier League games.
An appeal could make that three.

I can't see any ground for appealing Afellay's red. The ref was correct according to the rules. The problem with that sending off is that Gardener should have had whatever punishment Afellay got as he committed the same offence. As far as I know you can't base an appeal on the fact that the other bloke got off lightly.
If Adam's card had been given to anyone other than Adam, I'd probably appeal it. But, sadly, he has "form" for stamping and I doubt if a panel would give him the benefit of the doubt.

The interesting one for me is the Gardner situation. The challenge was a yellow card challenge, therefore the ref must have missed the raised arm hand so why can he not be banned retrospectively? (not that it helps us in anyway). And if he chose to ignore the challenge and book him for the raised hand then Oliver should be hauled before his bosses for incompetence shouldn't he?
They should be forced to clarify exactly what he was/wasn't booked for rather than hide away.......

No. I don't see how when can as our defence is only, He did it first. Or look at the scissor kick. Charlie condemned himself by looking so guilty.

Both have just been looked at on Ref watch on SSN and Dermot Gallagher says both were reds. I don't think we should risk it.

Nah. By the letter of the law, both were reds. It's down to the referees discretion whether or not he decides to be a jobs-worth about it though.

Nah and run the risk of them being over turned and have them starting a game some time soon, I'd rather we didn't.

Both would not be successful. I gave Adam the benefit of the doubt on Giroud but I believe I was wrong now. Unfortunately it's clearly in his DNA and he bids to rid the disease somehow which I don't think he can.

Will we appeal either of the reds? We should not appeal but we should write to the PL about the performance of the officials in what most would consider to have been a poor display with biase at worst and at best incompetence potentially resulting in a loss of three points.

By the letter of the law I think Afellay's is a sending off. Although I wouldn't have booked either of them
Adam has no chance of getting off that.

I wouldn't bother and to be honest i'm happy with it, Adam has been doing shit like that forever and he needs to stop, Afellay has been showing signs that he has a VERY short fuse and needs to control himself, bans for both will do them good
Arnie and Ireland will now be given a chance and that's for the best, Arnie looks hungry and Ireland breaks teams down, it's theirs to lose now

Everyone who saw the Affelay sending off knows that both players should have received the same colour card, but the refs union will shut up shop and not explain it.That i find is the biggest problem with football, even if they make a mistake they do not explain the reason to the fans/media etc. They are unaccountable and it makes me so angry, in no other walk of life can you make a mistake and not have to explain to those affected the reasons behind your decisions. The standard of ref's and linesmen this season in the Premier League have been nothing short of awful.

Only if we are completely, certifiably mental.
Both players were CORRECTLY sent off and we'd get an extended ban for whoever we appealed on behalf.
During the game, like many, I wanted the referee publicly executed but, as so often, when I saw the incidents close up, both were correct decisions (even if he got it wrong in respect of Gardner).

How can we possibly appeal either of them? They were both stupid acts of unprofessionalism and deserved reds. Both players should be fined the maximum two weeks wages for spoiling 25,000 Stokies' weekends and enabling us to lose a very winnable game. Yes it was over officious refereeing and no common sense was applied. but you can't give them the chance to make a decision nowadays.

No complaints from me re the reds however they were in my opinion very harsh.
My issue is consitancy I'd be very unhappy if a Chelsea, ManU, Arsenal did the same in future games will they be dealt with in the same way. If there's any examples the we need to be straight onto the FA.
Also in the case of Gardener he should definately have gone as should the guy who ploughed our player into the boards. Our honesty in my opinion cost us because we didn't start rolling around or holding our face.
No doubt that Gallagher defended his man.
Still leaves a sour taste.

You could argue that both were harsh in different ways you don't stand a chance of winning an appeal on either, although the linesman's assertion that Adam stamped 'really hard' is laughable.
Both players let us down badly on the day.

I find it fascinating that not one person who claimed the reds were wrong 24-hours ago, has posted on this thread..? I said it at the time and I'll say it again. Neither were red cards. Both yellows at most. I bloody hate some aspects of football. If I fuck up at work I have to justify my actions. Oliver the darling of The FA does not have to explain or be accountable for his actions. I hate the jumped up little shit. How many penalties has he given for holding in the box since Swansea last year? I'll tell you absolutely zilch. If he had correctly booked Dawson for barging Affelay into the boards then the subsequent incidents would not have happened. It was a very poor display from him. Both decisions were wrong.

We should get Gardner a retrospective ban if possible. We wouldn't stand a chance as the officials saw the incident, shit rule but won't happen! If Chelsea got away without Cortois appeal not being frivolous the FA really couldn't class any of ours as being however with how corrupt the FA is I wouldn't put it past them! But as others have said above, it's not worth the risk I do wonder if we will get an apology of the FA Ala Bournemouth but again we are Stoke we have got more chance of having a shit in the Queens Handbag

After watching the sunday supplement and every one of the journo's said Afellay shoudn't have been sent off as there is no rule that says you can't raise your hands, i thought i'd have a quick look up.
From what i found it says you can raise your hands to a players face. It's just if the ref see's it as violent conduct. Bit of a difference between a punch or a good slap to a little flick which is why the journo's were saying he shouldn't have gone.

If they did and that's what his yellow card was for then why wasn't the original challenge punished with a yellow (blatant) and why did Oliver choose to deem the raised hand incident as only a bookable offence? He should be bollocked for incompetence if that's the case. If the yellow was for the original challenge, then my understanding is he could still be punished for the raised hand and banned? As I say though either way it means fuck all to us in terms of points on the board.....
