The standard of ref's and linesmen decisions this season up to now has been awful in the Premier League. They seem to be unaccountable unlike players and managers. This weekend has seen some terrible decisions, players will be suspended, managers will be missing key players but officials just carry on.To my mind the refs should explain there decisions to the public via the media like everyone else involved in the game.

What this demonstrated is the awful inconsistency that exists in the premier league referee panel. Not a single match tonight didn't have a contentious issue. Something has to be done with referees to address this shocking inconsistency. There is a lot of money at stake and tonight it was demonstrated that referees ARE impacting results incorrectly. The question that will not be clarified is which referees were correct and which were wrong. The shutters will come up and the defence mechanisms put in place. This. If players and managers are forced to explain their decisions in post match interviews, why aren't refs? People make mistakes and if a ref came out and said "having watched the replays the decision seems unfair but in the moment I was certain I had made the right decision" then I'd have tons more respect that with the FA's default "cover up central, protect our delicate referee's from any criticism or be fined". Also find it frustrating that those who could gather momentum about these constant inconsistencies are too concerned with being totally unbiased to give an opinion i.e. Linekar, although maybe this is more down to the BBC - wonder what MOTD would be like on channel 4?

I still reckon the majority of premier league referees are biased against Stoke, but overall the standard of refereeing is shocking. The linesmen are another set of clueless pillocks as well. The ones we get on our side of the ground make mistakes in every game I watch.

On MotD, when they showed Huth's incident Ruud Gullit shouted out something like "but that's less than Afellay did for his red".

Does anyone have a video of the incident in its full glory please? I saw it on motd and I think it's my new favourite Huth moment but can't find it online anywhere.

As I said on the Motd thread, could we not appeal and use the Huth incident as worse example yet common sense(or fear) prevailed? Both Huth and Gardener were given yellow cards so don't think either decisions can be challenged. If Affelay gets a red then all 3 of them deserve the same punishment . It's all about consistency I suppose it's more like pointing out that the yellow cards were shown to Huth and Gardener so why was Affelay's a ref one?

If Affelay gets a red then what was gardener booked for though ?? putting his hand in affelays face or the blatant professional foul ?? if for the foul then surely the other can be challenged !!! all 3 of them deserve the same punishment . It's all about consistency
