I thought he did really well. Still trying to find his feet with us but it seemed that he is beginning to understand what is required of him, for this club and the premier league. In a few months he'll be solid I reckon.

The one thing we can put to bed is his fitness and whether or not the injuries have taken their toll.
He has a phenomenal engine. Looked like Cameron today (and that's a compliment). Athletic, full of energy and desire.
Having seen a few games from him now I think he will hugely benefit from the game time.

I thought he was our poorest player today tbh. I know it's early days and this may sound strange but he just doesn't seem to fit the Stoke way to me. I was watching him quite a lot today as well! He seems a bit like NZonzi when he first came to Stoke ie happy to sit in midfield and string a few passes together and remain largely anonymous. Whelan seems to be having a hell of a lot more to do in midfield than last season and was immense by the way. Strange how people see games differently though.

I thought he was superb after we went down to 9 men and I think today was a real watershed moment with him.
