Garth Crooks team of the week….a snippet from his goalkeeper of the week. Butland only just gets the nod over Pantilimon…. GOALKEEPER - Jack Butland (Stoke City)Stoke City keeper Jack Butland The Stoke stopper made six saves v Norwich City, the most he's made in a Premier League match so far Saves from Graham Dorrans, Nathan Redmond and Cameron Jerome was enough to give Jack Butland the nod over Sunderland's Costel Pantilimon in my team of the week but only just . Butland was brilliant for Stoke and the only reason that the Potters left Carrow Road with a point. Manager Mark Hughes has invested in some big-name players at Stoke this season but the most important player on his books this season might be the emergence of Butland.

The deluded bit is Crooks himself. He's a grade A twat who's forgot where he came from. Can't stand the sight or sound of the prick. That pretentious posh voice and fucking bushbaby eyes, fat knacker. Nothing whatsoever to do with Jack Butland.

I don't get it.
Is he deluded because he is claiming that Butland had a good game and amde some decent saves?
Personally I thought Butland's performance was probably the best of any goal keeper in the Premiership last week.

"Forgot where he came from" never more apparent than the previous weekend when he spoke of Stoke's comeback against Spurs in terms of his fears for Tottenham's season if they can't hang on to leads at home rather than any posiitves Stoke might take from their second half performance. (Or in the interests of balance - he could possibly have spoken of both - but he didn't). Why the BBC persist with him one can only wonder - but the body language of his co-presenters suggest even they are sitting on their hands to stop themselves biting their knuckles as they cringe.

I thought this Garth Crooks hate-a-thon was on hiatus after he said in the spurs programme interview that the feeling he had making his debut at the victoria ground and looking back at the boothen end to the spot where he once stood was his greatest moment in football.

That pretentious posh voice and fucking bushbaby eyes, fat knacker. Nothing whatsoever to do with Jack Butland. August 2015 Seems to have no problem remembering where he came from in this interview with a Spurs website only last week! Before we talk about your Spurs memories, tell us how you broke through at Stoke. Garth Crooks: "I broke through at Stoke courtesy of some fantastic professionals and people who, quite frankly, were ahead of their time. The most important man in football for me was Tony Waddington, arguably the best manager to have ever run Stoke City Football Club. To give young black players a chance to play the professional game during such an early period in our development portrayed a quality few possessed. The greatest goalkeeper I ever saw, and my youth team coach at the time, Gordon Banks, put me through and extraordinary regime. He went to great lengths to produce a work ethic that never existed before and one that has stayed with me all my working life. I would also have to doff my hat to the likes of Denis Smith, my first ever captain, who was a giant in so many ways as far as I was concerned. The likes of Terry Conroy and Jackie Marsh who became lifelong friends and later Adrian Heath and Lee Chapman both of whom went on to win trophies with Everton and Leeds United respectively. All of these individuals played a role in my development in one way or another at Stoke." What do you remember about those early days at the old Victoria Ground? Garth: "The most valuable memory for me playing at the Victoria Ground was making my debut. The transition from being a Stoke supporter to becoming one of their players was just amazing. I spent the first few moments just staring at where I used to stand in the Boothen End. No-one can imagine what a thrill that was for me, not to mention the most extraordinary feeling. To pull on that red and white shirt and run onto the pitch as a first team player was electrifying. I’ve played for four other clubs since but none of them ever quite matched that feeling."

Each time this subject arises the reasons for the hatred are vague. It says more about modern hate love than anything Garth has done.

From what I saw of Pantilimon he also had an excellent game. So what's the problem? In fact Sunderland seem to have got a much better keeper than the one they sold to Liverpool.

I know his background and saw him develop from the Butler Street paddock when I was a kid. He was my favorite player at the time. He left turned into some neuvo posh twat. I've never seen him show any affection for the club that took him from the gutter and gave him a platform to become a wealthy man with a very easy privileged life in complete contrast to his early life. Could you honestly imagine Denis or Bouldy becoming like him and he was even poorer then them. Even if he had to become a pretentious posh prick I'd expect him to retain an affection for the club that made him. Why that makes me so mad I don't really understand.

I've read & heard him be all nostalgic re SCFC more than once, especially re Stan & Waddo. - he's clearly more of a Spurs man for sure. He wasn't complemenatary re SCFC when TP was in charge but he wasn't alone there, including many Stoke fans. He certainly attempted to get rid of his accent (I think he's not entirely suceeded) Peter Coates took elecution lessons & sounds like a posh twat. I think Crooks is not guilty of anything other than being a rubbish interviewer & a bit of a prat As for Bouldy, well he's Mr Arsenal is he not?

To clear up the confusion.
I created this thread as it seemed that Crooks had no choice but to choose Butland over pantilimon.
Butland clearly was the standout keeper of the weekend yet Crooks made it out as if he was fortunate to be included, considering Pantilimon managed to make a few saves and keep his god awful side in the match.
Butland was head and shoulders better than Panti.
Thats my point, whether people still feel that my irritation regarding Crooks is still not warranted then thats up to them.

Does it matter if his accents changed? Why wouldn't it? He left SOT 35 years ago.
