Plus I think Charlie is vital as he will drive us forward and get goals

I think we certainly need solidity with the two cdm's and Cameron will give that defensive feel to it.

Butland Johnson-Wilson-Muniesa-Pieters Cameron-Whelan Shaqiri-Bojan-Afellay Diouf
Cant see him starting Bojan though so maybe Ireland.
I would move Cameron to midfield for sure and start Marc Wilson at CB to add some steel. MVG needs to play his way back in

I think Ireland and Adam have to interchange.
Trouble is when Ireland starts he usually runs out of steam and has to be brought off.
If we get Bojan back to full fitness and form,he will play before either Ireland or Adam do.

Could ask the same question after the second half away at Norwich
Those that look good
Butland and Given
Shaq (first half) Diouf (ignoring Luton) Whelan Ireland (just about) Geoffrey (but which role)
and that the rest really need to step up/show some understanding/urgency
Early days and a great 30 mins at Spurs aside, very disappointing start given the talent we have - surely 1 or 2 should start to gel

I'd simply hand team selection over to bayernoatcake and Benjie - they are the only people who really won't tolerate the mess the club is in after this disastrous transfer window. LMAO

Given Not Bardsley Not Wolly Not Wilson Pieters Not Sidwell Adam Walters Bojan Afellay Joselu Definitely NOT this. How can you drop Butland? How can you drop Diouf? Their form suggests they SHOULD be solid starters for Satdee

Butland Johnson - Cameron - Wollschied - Muniesa Whelan - v.Ginkel Shaqiri - Bojan - Walters Diouf
Can Walters play on the left? If not chuck him on the right.

Butland Johnson Cameron Wilson Muniesa Whelan Adam Walters Ireland Shaqiri Diouf
Bojan for Ireland after 60 min if se are behind or at level. Affelay or Joselu for Walters for the last 15 min in the same case
Joselu for Diouf after 80 min if we are leading Affelay for Ireland for the last five

There will inevitably be a difference with what we want and what Hughes will play. The nine who did not play last night were rested so they would be fresh to play on Saturday. Most of those who played 90/120 minutes last night are unlikely to do so on Saturday - one of Wilson or Pieters at most I feel.
Hughes team (I think):
Butland
Johnson Cameron Wilson Muniesa
Whelan Van Ginkel
Shaqiri Adam Affelay
Diouf
I think he may choose the solidity Wilson generally brings and feel Muniesa is a better bet than Erik on the left right now, that Arnie needs to be benched, and that Adam will give us more thrust through the middle.

I'd like to see Whelan getting into those advanced positions whilst simultaneously protecting the back 4. By doing both jobs simultaneously, this would mean that as well as conceding fewer chances and creating more goalscoring ones, it would also open up more space for others. So would everyone. However he's not Franz Beckenbauer. He can't do both. That for me is one of the problems in MF we need another player back to 1. break down opposition attacks before they get to the defense and 2. bring out the ball. Adam can't play there because he's apoor tackler.

Butland; Johnson, Cameron, Muniesa, Pieters; Whelan, Van Ginkel; Shaqiri, Ireland, Arnautovic; Diouf.
I'd be tempted to play Joselu over Diouf because we all know what to expect with Tone, two banks of four sat on the edge of their area saying "Find a way through if you can". We know from experience that these kind of games don't really suit Diouf as he'll have no space to burst into with his lightning pace, so I'd be tempted to use Joselu instead so he can link-up with Shaqiri/Ireland/Van Ginkel/Arnautovic and even Johnson running beyond him. That said, though, Diouf has scored two in two so it's pretty impossible to drop him.

Absolutely have to go to 4-2-3-1. I'd try Cameron next to Whelan to shore up the mid-field and give Arnie another chance.
Butland
Johnson Wilson (Shudder) Muniesa Pieters
Whelan Cameron
Shaqiri Ireland Arnie
Diouf

I would drop Arnautovic and Van Ginkel and they wouldn't make the subs bench either . Walters also wouldn't play because of his stroppy attitude over his contract .
In my opinion it's simply a case of sign it or fuck off . We have better than you .
I would bring in Ireland and Geoff Cameron as a straight swap for Van GInkel . Cameron would relish this role .

They have two threats - McManaman and the hoof to Rondon. I watched the WBA Chelsea game today and safe to say Albion were diabolical. The man is anti-football and we must win. Absolutely, it's nailed on.

Class act all round.

If we are gonna play 4231 we need an actual holding midfielder alongside Whelan, not MVG. West Brom will sit back on us so we might be able to get away with it though
