Job done, move on to Saturday. Fulham away is a decent draw, should be very winnable.

Well there are times when being a Stoke fan is hard and then there are nights like this. We controlled the play for most of the game but if we had been on a bonus to make them look good we could not have done a better job. Poor performance and WBA to come with them desperate for the points, Tone will be rubbing his hands. Said this before , this season I'll take 40 points now. Errrr West Brom managed to scrape a win on penalties at home to fucking Vale!

We are through and that matters. We were always going to make it tricky because of the number of undercooked players, away from home to lower league and......yes, it's Stoke. It wasn't great but a massive over reaction from some tonight. What do you mean by 'undercooked' ? Our starting elven should have been good enough to blow away any team from league 2.They weren't and we didn't.We didn't deserve more than a draw,Luton will feel hard done by I'd imagine. 4 games into the season and there's no sign of us getting our act together.None of the outfield newbies have looked up to much. But,it's early days and hopefully we'll turn the corner in the next match. Sideways and backwards,I mean onwards and upwards

Two positives. No injuries (Bojan especially) and we won. Apart from that, utter tripe. Succinctly put mate, and bang on the money. The only other positive I'd suggest was Wolly, who seems a bit stronger this season.

It's all a bit of a mystery why we start the season so sluggishly. Is there some sort of plan to increase fitness gradually, to build up to last through the season? If so, it is a gamble in the early going when we look so far off the pace it is shocking.

Whatever they are paying Sidwell, they should give to Jon, and get shot of Sidwell! He is CRAP!

One thing should comr out of tonight ... FUCK SIDWELL OFF !! Sidwell played well tonight, nothing outstanding but did well. If you are that critical over Sidwell's performance then Arnie ain't got a chance. Arnie was woeful tonight.

I dont know whether to laugh or cry after that
A few soundbytes :-
Overall, that was excrutiating to watch - do the players realise what they put us fans through ????
1) Our team seriously lacks moral fibre without Ryan
2 )Arnie drives me up the fucking wall (all the talent in the world and he puts in a performance like that) ( similar with Ireland)
3) Dioufs handball cheat was truly embarressing
4) Steve Sidewell --- jesus wept - words cannot describe !
5) Super Jon - give him a proper fucking contract - there's others there absolutely conning a living right now
6) Bojan - slowly but surely getting there
7) I assume Charlie starts on Saturday - which is good news

But to say they will be rubbing their hands at the prospect at playing us away after they struggled to beat Vale at home is just daft. No it isn't because what he has seen AGAIN is a Stoke team play good football with ZERO penetration and a Stoke team that is leaking goals. It does not really matter what his team is doing he will see that he has a chance. Now if we had kept a clean sheet and scored 4 or 5 like we should have done and with the prospect of better players coming in he would be inclined to shit his load and set up very defensively IMO. However he will now feel he has a chance with a solid back 4 and a ball over the top his left wing where we continue to be shite. IMO Also we would have struggled to beat Fail on that performance too, remember people are talking about us being Europa Contenders not struggles. IMHO we need a lot more time together as a team and a right back and a centre back , and no I'm not a Glenn Johnstone fan he is too attacking for our team at the moment IMO we need a lot more solidity at the back as yet. All pessimistic on my part I accept, but this season has come too quick for us and I can't help feeling that two tournaments abroad have not helped. Anyway great respect shown by both sets of fans at the start of the match was a credit to both teams.

Not happy with the Diouf handball incident. Don't want that to become part of Stoke's DNA!

Few points from tonight's game.
1. Sidwell isnt good- Neither is Bardsley, Cameron is much better than both in their positions.
2. Will someone please tell Wilson to stop switching the ball out of play
3. Wollys confidence looks shot
4. Everyone was shit in all fairness to the above.
5. We NEED a centre midfielder

Wasn't pretty and a lot to criticise, not getting the basics right magnified things a bit.
Bojan not getting support from his fellow players after that bit of arjy when he was shoved into the crowd disappointed me, shows a lack of unity which is a bit of a concern.
We won, so not quite razor blades but certainly one to put behind us.

Given was steady
Wolly was shakey as per and i wouldnt have him anywhere near our matchday squad. Wilson bards and pieters were average
Sidwell is fucking awful and must go Ireland and bojan were average, let bojan off though as its his first game back
Arnie was full on useless and a waste of time As was crouch and joselu
Walters scored a good goal but gave away possesion twice near our box
Embarrasing by us last night, nothing short of embarrasing! But we won and we are through which is the main thing

As well as creating a bit more impetus in the game, I was very impressed with Geoffs organisational skills. Good penalty too

Anyway great respect shown by both sets of fans at the start of the match was a credit to both teams. And it wasn't even the full team. Even if we had won by 4-5 goals it would still mean square route of feck all. TP is far too wise & experienced to change his tactics based on a patch work team playing Luton. As for Vale, if we did have to play the unwashed I'm fairly positive a stronger side would be picked based on the Stoke faithful.

Just Reading the "last post" of about 10 pages! Yes Stoke were not up for it, very poor passing which is what Hughes is trying to make us - a passing side. Squeester is spot on - the REf went to blow full time, put the whistle to his mouth, saw Luton were on the attack down their left and let it flow until Given had the ball safely in his hands then blew full time. Also may have been mentioned in the thread earlier but defo a stonewall penalty for a blantent push on Joselue in the box.

Not one single player came out with ant credit last night in my view but let's be fair. For most it was their first game or they were coming back from injury. It was a team that had never played together. If you were to judge on last night Bojan would never play again as he was as bad as the rest.
The job got done and we will get better.
