I would want us to keep SJW but I can't see him staying considering the top-heavy squad that we have acquired. If the right bid comes in he will surely leave?

He was superb against Liverpool. Our chances all came through him. Funny how 2 people see a game differently as I thought he was average at best. That game he created 3 goal scoring opportunities (according to some stats banded about) and nobody else managed more than one.

Second worst player on the pitch vs Liverpool imo. Same at Spurs. My guess the contract situation is affecting him My guess is he's a bit of a toss footballer.

Granted he didn't do much last week against Spurs but 'the second worst players against Liverpool'. Really? Really? Bullshit. He was ineffective against Spurs but against Liverpool he was our main attacking outlet. I know we all like to think we play carpet football now but we've found a good balance and are still able to go direct at times to Walters. Without him, there will be games where we'll struggle to get the ball up the pitch to our main attacking threats. Walters has a huge part to play this season and we'd be very foolish to let him go.

We have offered 2 on top of his current year, that is like TP offering 3 years. That is how I undertsand it? Just assumed it meant we'd effectively offered him a year's extension until 2017 . And he was looking for a deal until 2018. I think that's a bit optimistic on his part - although TP would probably go for it. But the main issue probably now is the effect of Shaq and he sees a future on the bench (although we've said that before several times and he's seen everyone off - but hard to see how he can this time) Totally agree mate, we know he doesn't see himself as a bit part player. I am sure it means two on top of this maybe one of the more in the knowers could steer us right as you may be right FM. Also, there is something in how Walters was mentioned the other day by Bowen that just makes me feel as if tracks were being laid. Not being negative, but maybe the management team know that Walters wants to move on, assuming game time is his biggest driver, and they want us fans to know how highly they rate him. Then when he does move we know they didn't seek to off him.

I hope we keep him can still see him playing a part. If we offload anyone it should be the woeful Wingy. Walters has much much more to offer than Wingy

Are they trying to unsettle our star player before we play them?. Re the above:Have you ever considered a career on the stage?

Those long balls out to him on the touchline worked well, he set up the van ginkel run into the area which led to the Afellay chance (blatant penalty) and the Johnson chance in the first half with it

I think he should be picked tomorrow and help intimidate their defence and help out our defence taking the sting out of Norwich's attack. Then when he and they are tiring, hit them with Shaqiri.

At £1.5m we may as well let his contract wind down. It's worth £1.5m to have him available when needed.

Well, if we don't get any other offers for other players then we still need to cut one player from the squad. If he won't play now that Shaq is first choice (and because we have other options) then considering his wage (assuming 40k per week) and the 1.5m offer, it probably works out closer to 3.5m over the course of the season. If they double their offer, that's like 5m. Would the club prefer 3.5m - 5m or to have him play at most a bit part over the season.

Can't find the link - via Twitter somewhere this morning - will keep looking
There is an article saying that SJW is going to discuss all contract possibilities with his family over the next few days
He has a final offer that includes a 2 year contract on the table - and there will be no improvement to it
I really hope that he stays

If he goes, there is only one place Walters will end up and that's down the road with his biggest fan at West Brom. Goaaaaaaan John. In reality, if he gets a lot of game time here this season, it will only be because of injuries or poor form of others and that would be really bad news.

It's not the money is it if he wants to go so he can get a regular starting spot then surely we owe him that much and should allow him to leave.
He must know his position at Stoke will be mainly from the bench, however he may just fancy being a part of the Stoke Revolution rather than a potential relegation battle at Norwich.
Up to him in the end but the fee should not be the issue I feel.

No disrespect to Jon cause he's been brilliant for us but with Arnie, Shaq, Affelley and bojan he shouldn't be starting anymore. He is a definitely a useful squad player but ive got a feeling he doesn't want that.

£5,000,000 minimum. If they want him, they'll have to pay the going rate for a player who appears to be very much in the manager's plans. If they don't want to pay it then tough.

Hughes (or maybe it was Bowen) singled him out for praise this week, in light of the attacking talent we now have at our disposal.
I get the feeling we want to keep him.

I'd like to keep him and Crouchie until Jan at least, to make sure Shaqiri and Joselu settle. We have lost Huth and need to be careful how quickly we break up the spine of the team.

He has been a top player up to now. Agree with some re this season, games have passed him by, friendlies included to some extent, the improvement when Mame replaced him last week was immense. Maybe time to part regretfully,

Waiting for the bidding war with TP to ensue on deadline day. Should get around £7.5m in that context Cue West Brazil message board to implode under the condensed mass of its own rage and bewilderment! Seriously though, sad to see him go but will perhaps be for the squad space and young, fresher talent and new signings?

Against L'pool he was half decent but far from superb. He didn't put a very inexperienced LB under enough pressure. Against Spurs last week he was woeful.
Saying that £1.5million is a joke. Come back with 2 million more and I might consider it.

Wonder what we'd accept? £2.5m? £3m? 1 year left on his contact, neither party desperate to get a new one signed, at his age, we're not going to get more than £3 mil off anybody are we? He'd probably go to Norwich for something like £2.5 mil plus an extra £500k if Norwich stay up. That's if HE wants to go mind, he might choose to hang around here in the shadows for 12 months and take his chances on a Bosman in a year but that'd be a pretty risky strategy on his part IMHO.
