I wouldn't say they have definitely just been given what they want, i bet Crouch as per your example could probably have made a tidy sum more moving abroad say than he has probably got here, SJW at 31 can get a 3yr deal elsewhere i would imagine but is only worth a 2 here based on what we have & the way we would like to do things in the future. If he sits it out for another 12 months he will be 32 & looking at dropping down a division, this is the perfect time for him to go from his perspective i would think. I thought he is 33 any day now? 20 September 1983 (age 31) Off Wiki, i wasn't sure when you said that though

This is a guy who told people how to vote, now he has an offer which he finds unacceptable - probably not enough money, although he will earn more in a year than most SCFC fans will see in 20 years. He is a whole hearted player who never gives less than 100 % - and has 5 or 6 really good games a season along with 30 okay games and 2 poor ones. If he is not happy with the offer then he has every right to take his labour elsewhere, with thanks and best wishes. Although he is clearly a great guy, he is not and never has been a great footballer. He is an honest pro - if Stoke don't want to offer any more than they currently have, then it is SJW's decision - and he can go with my best wishes for always trying his best, even though his hard work often has little end product.

Not another season of Walters plodding down the line and trying to muscle his way through. So far this season he has failed to dominate a Liverpool youngster and Spurs' worst player and a lower division full back. Hard working yes but lacking in touch, guile and awareness when he tracks back. Surely it is time to move on He does the hard work that leads to goals and chances His goal v Luton was class he also scores goals and like he said in his interview if we were to look at the stats he'd be in the top 2 for most things

What was he alluding to in the interview when he referred to 'things going on' at the club?
Is there ill will among the playing staff.

Whatever happens though, I'd guess he's been better than we ever expected judging by this... oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/thread/130074/jon-walters-signs-official

SJW can lift the team and the crowd with his desire and endeavor . A work horse to the show ponies , teams need both , balance. When you loose to many players that would run through a brick wall for the team, you loose the team.

I'd understand the point that you need the workhorses in the team point if John was a Midfielder or Defender. As shown by Whelan, players that would run through walls for the team and never give up are just as valuable as the show horses. But Walters plays in the right wing position, you don't need a workhorse there. Granted, you need them to track back and John is good at this. But Shaqiri showed signs that he will do that in the first half and will do it even more as he because accustom to us. There were so many games last season and this season ie. Spurs, Liverpool where nothing came down the right from an attacking point other than the Right back. Shaqiri will give us so many more options than John would. With So many pacey full backs and our counter attacks, i think he will struggle more this season and the early signs have showed that. Granted, when we are closing a team down and dominating an opposition, john is good. But when we are trying to hit teams on the counter John is never in the game. Walters is not indispensable,. I would like to keep him but i wouldn't lose sleep if we don't

although he will earn more in a year than most SCFC fans will see in 20 years. Speak for yourself. Life is all about decision making and taking chances, being a footballer isn't the only way to earn a fortune. But I don't think Walters is going about this the right way, he's a good player, but like many of you have already said, he's not indispensable. At best this season he's going to be a utility substitute, maybe it is time to let go.

Pay the man a decent wage, he is a work horse and an asset to the team and like he says he keeps on improving.
PAY HIM, PLAY HIM & GET ON WITH IT!

Pay the man a decent wage, he is a work horse and an asset to the team and like he says he keeps on improving. PAY HIM, PLAY HIM & GET ON WITH IT! Being a Tory he should understand market economics. We'll pay what he's worth and we'll sweat the asset until it's of no use to us. He should be thanking us for following these principles not moaning like a pinko socialist demanding we pour cash into something just based on sentiment and past performance.

Dunno if these Coates quotes are new? Mail‘We don’t want to lose Jon Walters,’ said the 77-year-old. ‘He is an important player for us and we’ve made that abundantly clear to him.
‘We think we’ve offered him a good contract and we’re still hopeful he will sign. We very much want Jon to stay. We are doing all we can to accommodate him.
‘We’ve tweaked a bit of this and a bit of that and hopefully we can get there.’

Game time! I think the club want to keep short term and are sending out signals to potential buyers that it will take a good offer for us to let him go. 1.5 is pointless. I think if a 2+ mil offer comes in he will be sold.

An extra 500k isn't turning a pointless offer into a good one is it? tell Delia and co to fuck off unless they stump up £5m, simple.

Sadly some will only realise this around Christmas time when he's playing for Norwich and we're missing something
