Sincere condolences to you and your family. My father and brother have both had prostate cancer and this led me to have a Psa and digital rectal examination by my Gp. I had a raised psa and enlarged prostate and had an Mri and biopsy last week. I'm waiting to get the results. I'm 52 and have no symptoms but neither did my dad or my brother. I would urge any bloke over 50 to ask their Gp for a psa request and a DRE. It is a very treatable cancer if it is caught early. All men have a a 1 in 8 chance of developing prostate cancer and these odds increase with age.

cheers to all for your good wishes. To be honest whilst a round of applause at a game would be nice he wouldn't be there to hear it. It means more to stop people dying who really don't have to.
As we were walking down the spiral steps from the gods in wembley (at the semi) there was the most wonderful chorus of 'oh when the reds' and it echoed and echod and echoed. My dads face was worth all the fucking gold in the world

Sincere condolences. This is the sort of thread that makes me love this site. Real people with real emotions and real regard for other people. If just one person - even a Vale fan - listens and gets checked out then I for one will be happy. Let's all continue to enjoy our lives and our team.

Sincere condolences to you and your family.
Your advice is sound, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer around 5 years ago, can't agree with poster who said there are no symptoms, mine were feeling I needed a pee and getting to the bathroom and not a lot happening, mostly at night. Anyhow, I had surgery to remove the prostate and am now in the clear from that cancer, but at a recent test to make sure all was still OK it was found I had tumours in my bowel !! Successful operation removed one tumour around 4 weeks ago and I will start chemo to shift another soon, very confident all will be well following chemo.
Moral or the tale is get checked and if there is problem found early then it can be sorted....plus our new cancer centre at RSUH is superb, have a positive attitude and they can fix things.

I'm bumping this partly because we are cremating my dad on Monday (I am doing the eulogy, hopefully in a Stoke top) and also because more people read this board closer to a game. Get checked! And please let us win this weekend!
