Just back, what an a amazing time we had. Can't believe so many Stokies saved their hard earned money to turn up. Shame the team couldn't. Everyone I spoke to said the same "we turned up, why couldn't they". I know it's a warm up for the up-coming season but they took the piss by lolling about like it was a training session. We don't all earn £40-50K a week.

I'm afraid that's the way it goes with pre-season chances are it won't be competitive as it was in Asia and it seems Germany.

We arrived back last night, had an absolutely brilliant time. Great beer, great food and great people. Can't wait for the next European tour, hopefully in the Europa League!

We don't all earn £40-50K a week. I don't think we should have ever joined the cup though for the simple reason that the other teams were better than us... It now means that because they didn't 'turn up' our confidence is low for the opener against Liverpool and our best players are missing...

Fit as fuck and fully shaven. 4 in a room and she's strolling around in a thong without a care in the world. Never told the Mrs that one.

Visited Berlin on numerous occasions and love the place. definetly, good restaurants, boat trips on the Rheine, plenty of parks, museums, beer houses etc. I would recommend the hotel I stayed in for location and quietness (if you are taking the Mrs), even though it's 200 yards from the alte market (main square for bars) and the cathedral, 5 minute walk from the main station (which is 2.80 euros from the airport) 2 minutes walk down to the river and the many restaurants www.mgallery.com/gb/hotel-1306-hotel-mondial-am-dom-cologne-mgallery-collection/index.shtml

Would you recommend Cologne for a City Break?? As a couple.. It has already been said but I would just add that it is fantastic for a couple. I took the Mrs to Cologne for the weekend for a "mini break" and we both loved it. As I had the wife with me we shyed away from the Corkonian where everyone else went but went in the Fruh Brauhaus that one of the lads in Elliot Hackney's blog mentioned. Fantastic in there and we loved it. Did a boat trip on the Rhein yesterday as well. Neither of us is particularly religious but we were both blown away when we went into the Cathedral. It was nice on Friday afternoon as well when we sat down by the river and had a few bottles of Kolsch while people watching and soaking up the sun. Great weekend and the fans at the games were outstanding. I can't get the fucking Marc Muniesa song out of my head!!!!!

Loved the trip , great time , thought our performances were poor and team selections odd , Cologne and Porto tended to play pretty much their strongest sides for an hour then change it , we mixed it both days and performances suffered , but if it's achieved what he wants that's fine , it's a long season and we have been brilliant in the second half of the last two so I'm sure a lot of sports science comes into play that we won't understand and I'm expecting a tough start but then a steady season

On the pitch it was like Valencia all over again.
Fortunately it was also like Valencia off the pitch... had a great time and would definitely go there again.

Cologne is probably the nicest city In Germany, and there are quite a few contenders, Similar to some of our little gems in England, York, Bath, Gloucester, Longton.... I used to go there every year for the Hardware show and always had a day or 2 either side to explore, and at that time of the year it is mega cheap, as all the Rhine Cruisers are moored up and become makeshift hotels.

Very nice city - more geared to older couples I would say - certainly in the old town
The bars in the old town were full of 'older' people on the Friday night and they made sure no football fans got in - almost like clubs?
I wonder what Koln (why do we call it Cologne?) do with football away fans during their season. They struggled with 1,000 plus Stoke fans with the squares full of police all night so how do they cope with a regular 5,000 on every other Saturday?
I am guessing that younger football fans head for another part of the city rather than the old town?

Another superb trip abroad with stoke and the fans were amazing and what a city Cologne is. Love to go back next pre season After the behaviour of a significant minority of Stoke "fans" in Cologne over the course of the weekend, I'm afraid we won't be invited back there anytime soon. Blame the idiots for that one. Why, what happened ?

Was speaking to a Cologne fan on Friday night, he was very surprised by the number of fans we brought over for a friendly tournament... maybe we will be invited back if they know they're gonna sell plenty of tickets at 70 euros a pop, not to mention, beer money in the ground, beer/food/hotels around the town etc!
