I am embarrassed to say that I include myself in this category because I think we all love our club and therefore we worry because we want the best for our team but I am ashamed recently by some of the dross and negative comments made about our players on this site. Do some people ever really think about what they are writing on these threads? Have we not just had two seasons of football and progression some would have only dreamed of a short time ago. Whatever reason have Stoke City's players given in their last 46 games to warrant the diatribe and malice some of you are carrying round with you. The worst example I see is the sheer hatred I am seeing for Wollsheid. What has this player done to warrant such abuse? Over the last six months this player has had to settle in a knew country, learn another language and adapt to a new style of play without the benefit of regular games. Surely Mark Hughes and his coaches have a better insight into the potential of this player. The fact is that at this time we have a player that needs to feel the warmth of our support. He is not deluded, Mark Hughes is not deluded. Wollsheid has had to step onto a steep learning curve. There have been games where he has been outstanding and there have been times when he has seriously been found out. Confidence is very important in a players psyche and as fans we need to be helping all our players especially in times when a squad has injuries. We shouldn't be slating our own players. We all want to see Stoke City continue to progress. When we have played a dozen games we will be in a far better situation to make constructive criticism about performance. I have been guilty in the past especially where John Walters is concerned. I have been extremely critical of his ability and credit to him he has made a significant contribution last season. We may all think we are experts but I shall remember that I am a fan and as a supporter I should be getting behind every player in my team!

Couldn't agree more..
Whenever I feel like a moan I remember not been able to get the ball off Crewe and losing 0-7 to Birmingham a couple of weeks later 97-98 season

We have just signed a player who has 50 caps for Holland and played for barca's first team, and some posters on here treat it like the club has shit on the cornflakes because we have failed in bringing true world class players here, some posters on here even criticise our chairman...absolutely beggars belief

It takes all sorts. The hopeful and optimistic people, the more pessimistic, glass half empty types, the cynics, the wind ups, the rageful, the frankly bewildered and then the realistic grounded types like me <winky>.
We are all Stoke fans and it's worth remembering that at heart NONE of us want our club to fail. Anyway, the boil will be lanced on Sunday!
I'm expecting a thrill free 0-0.

Hate long posts, I get through the first two lines then give up.....I've got such a low attention span!!!! I tend to flip through the shorter posts to fill me in with what the long posts are saying!!!

I agree entirely, about everything. At one point in the season Woolscheid was one of the best players on the pitch (just before Swansea) and if Sparky trusts him, then so do I.
I also cannot stand the juvenile language, insults, constant swearing or references to gay sex or masturbation that appear time after time on this site. If it were just the 14 year olds I would understand. I wish I could share this site with my Sons (13 and 14), but so much of it is inappropriate.
As far as I can tell, we have lost Shawcross for a while longer and NZonzi for good, but we managed without Shawcross for many matches last season, and NZonzi will be replaced, not with a clone, but with good footballers.
this is going to be another great season.

I don't hate him, but I don't rate him. Won't stop me fully supporting him if he plays on Sunday.
That being said, we all pay our money so we're entitled to our opinions...
Even if some of them are mental.

Well I see myself as a little bit of a pessimists but, I always make a point of not picking out individuals....it serves no purpose, and neither does trying to link other posters with pessimistic, glass half empty views as player haters. i do agree with the opening poster

Hate is one thing; I certainly don't hate wollscheid; it's ridiculous to hate someone you don't even know; why should I 'hate' him for gods sake ?! That said I feel entitled to vent my dissent to his acquisition on a perm. There are so many better players out there whom we could have hunted to fill in such a delicate position, especially with Ryan's back problems. Now if we are not entitled to disagree with a decision made, pls tell us. I'll buy myself a one-way ticket to Pyongyang

Every club has them , yes , people who have an opinion. What's wrong with that? I have many opinions in my old age but I am learning that sometimes it is better for all if I bite my tongue. There will be many Stoke fans who are having worries about one thing or another but comment needs to be more constructive and less volatile and certainly without so many expletives!

Silverdollar I am pretty sure you have spotted a few talented players in the past that the first thing that you look for in a player, I have done the rounds with a few scouts from different clubs they always assess firstly the athleticism of any prospect, then moving onto other attributes as I am sure you know, do you think Wolfy has the athletic capabilities to make it in the Premiere league?

I have watched Wollsheid since he arrived and I have seen him play efficiently and distribute the ball well. He needs to be stronger in my mind to cope with the physical aspects of defending in English football. What immediately struck me was his lack of pace! I can see why some fans are tearing their hair out but as I have already commented I also made the same initial thoughts about Mertesacher at Arsenal. Time has seen him settle into the team and he is now a regular. At the moment I am trusting in Mark Hughes to management his contribution in the team and I am hoping that he goes on to prove all the moaners wrong!

However that's quite a big IF in my opinion ....
let's just wait and see with fingers firmly crossed
