I think it's fair to say that everybody would be delighted with another top 10 finish given the players we've lost and the concerns over the defence. Anything above 9th would have me jizzing my pants.
IMO even if we don't quite repeat the success of the last two years, finishing somewhere around 11th-13th would still be acceptable.
Once we get lower than that though, I'd probably feel quite disappointed.
What does everyone else think?

With the "next level" comments emanating from the club they have raised the bar. Whether that was the intent I don't know but they have increased the expectation levels to a new high. Personally I'd agree with you but I would add that I'd like to see something coming from that Academy.

That we continue to play open attractive football with some displays of flair and scoring some great goals and that we do not get drawn into any relegation battles. Also that our players who are slated on this site by our so called supporters have fantastic and faultless seasons!

A stable season with no relegation worries.
A cup run would be nice but that depends on luck of the draw and shit like that.

We shouldn't be aiming lower than where we have finished the previous 2 years, should be looking forward. We're struggling to bring in next level players after finishing 9 th for 2 years, how hard do you reckon it'll be outside the top 10.

Anything below 13th and 14th would be on the disappointing side but could be mitigated by a deep Cup run. I think another 9th is beyond us right now.

We've lost Huth. We've lost Bego. We've lost Nzoni for FFS. Ryan will never play again. We looked dreadful in preseason. Could barely kick a ball against a bunch of foreign part timers FFS. Scholes couldn't sign anyone. We have no money. It's all lies about signing players. Bojan will never walk again after that injury. We have the worse centre half ever to play the game. And American RB/DM/CH - whatever the fuck he is. Glenn Whelan? FFS. Wouldn't get in the Leek side. Walters has just turned 92 and can run 3 yards now. Glenn Johnson. FFS he can't defend for toffee. None of the signings cost £20 million pounds. Every side around us has signed a whole team of Champions League quality players.
20th if we're very lucky. Personally I could see us being relegated by Christmas. We'll probably end up just above the relegation zone in League 2. But that's me being optimistic.

Avoiding relegation is acceptable Top 10 is good If we come in the top 8, have a good cup run or by some miracle both then it's perfect!

What do you mean by "acceptable"? If to "accept" is the opposite of "rejection", then any season is acceptable because I wouldn't reject the club.
If you mean it as being satisfactory, then reaching 40 points before anyone realistically talks of relegation is satisfactory. But, it can still be that and disappointing. I wouldn't be disappointed with 11th, at least quarters in a cup and continuing to play well.
I'd be delighted with 9th again and a further cup run.

55pts or better, a Top 10 finish (preferably 8th) and a good cup run (hopefully with at least a final) would be my idea of a good season. It's obvious that were not going to push for anything above that, well maybe 7th, until we start spending silly money and people get their heads from their arses and realise that we're not the same Stoke City from three years back.
