www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/athletics/33749208It appears that the IAAF have been covering up doping in athletics, if true, then I suspect that drug taking in top level sport is rife. I believe Chris Froome is a clean cyclist and if so, that would explain his anger at the finger being pointed at him, when he asks the question, why are other top athletes so rarely put under scrutiny. I've said it before, if people believe that the frankly amazing physical performances we see each week in the Premier League are purely down to half work and training, then they are deluded.

A good thread for the main board. I've seen rumours online of the FA hiding drugs results of top top players especially English by covering their bans with a long term injury Linked to the 2nd coming of gazza and all round good egg currently plying his trade in N London

Extraordinairy allegations in the world of athletics aren't they?
The pure-play endurance or power/strength sports like running, cycling and weight lifting are always going to be the most vulnerable.
The skill element is almost zero and they are won at such slender margins that anything to gain a split second can reap dividends.
I must admit I have somewhat disengaged from these sports, they are just too high in science (some of it very dark in it's nature) and low in skill for my enjoyment.

Athletics has become a joke. Justin Gatlin has been done for using PEDS on 2 occasions, and recorded his best ever 100 metres time recently; at the age of 33!

I'm always a bit surprised that it isn't talked about more in football.
It's not going to be as bad as the likes of Cycling or Sprinting; since all the drugs in the world won't turn you into a good footballer. But, especially for the second-raters, being able to run about like a headless chicken for an extra 15 minutes before collapsing through exhaustion would be a big plus.

Spanish football seems to rise and fall alongside the career of a certain disgraced doctor. I dont think its a given that its restricted to the lower league sloggers.

Can't we just have a Dope-olympics and have done? Where it's accepted you use whatever makes you faster & stronger. I'd love to see the Sprint times man could really achieve.

If drug taking carried no risks to the health of the athlete, then there might be some merit in that. Doping "forces" athletes into taking drugs, so they can compete with the others that take them. It's a vicious circle, and I suspect many of them would get out of it if they could.

Being revealed this morning that Coe is rubbishing the Sunday Times investigation into IAAF overlooking suspicious blood samples. Mmmmm...the very man who is running for presidency of IAAF. Wouldn't it be better for him to say that if he becomes president he will ensure that suspicious blood samples are acted upon immediately. Can't stand the man either way.

I hear that Sepp Blatter will be available soon, he has lots of experience with high level sport, and might be just the man to root out corruption in athletics.
