Rob's gone for a new signing-less XI on twitter.
Don't think it'll be that far off -but can see Walters for Wingie and MVG for Sidwell maybe?

Butland
Cameron Shawcross Muniesa Pieters
Van Ginkel Whelan
Walters/Odem Adam Arnie
Diouf
If Ryan isn't fit he may move Geoff inside and Johnson at RB.

That team bar van Ginkel for sidwell and Walters for Wingie.
Plus shawcross will play instead of muniesa, if yesterday's performance is anything to go by.

Having beaten Liverpool six in our last league game our repeat fixture poses all sorts of problems but they are not on the field of play. I feel the issues will arise from our so called fans who will be on here moaning and groaning should we lose. Since that fixture we have lost Begovic and Nzonzi. Two outstanding players who Hughes is going to have to replace. Even with these two players we wouldn't replicate that 6-1 result. I personally feel Hughes has made some terrific buys in Van Ginkel, Joselu and Afellay. We have an outstanding young England goalkeeper chopping at the bit to prove himself. I can see Hughes going with much of the team that played in that great fixture last May where he can. What he doesn't need is a load of weak kneed moaning fans ready to moan. There are forty six games in a season and we have some promising players who will be giving their all for us and the team. We just need to do our part by getting behind our players on a match day. Van Ginkel is on loan a carrot in the Bego deal too sweeten the low transfer price, the problem is the club stated that they would be pushing the boat out this summer, such signings as Wolly, Johnson, and Given would indicate anything but, concerning signs in my opinion. As you say quite clearly it is your opinion and you are entitled to it but it really isn't a good one. The Management team have done enough over the last two years to warrant just a little more trust. I remember people like yourself on this site having their two penneth when Arnautovic, Bojan and Odemwinge arrived and they have gone on to contribute well despite bad luck with injuries. You do not get fifty caps for the Netherlands by being a poor player. Put you faith and support in our team and hopefully the results will be positive. Stoke will pay really good money when they are sure that the player is committed to moving our club further forward!

Think it will be either Whelan or VG alongside Adam, if it's a toss up between PO & JW for the right I hope JW wins but this still is THE weakest link and needs to be sorted sooner rather than later.
EDIT. I'd even consider playing Johnson ahead of either Odem or Walters depending on his fitness with Cameron behind him.

I think we have as little idea of the team Hughes will select for next week as we have of the team Rodgers will select for the bin dippers.
Both clubs have had significant squad changes that render the significance of the last game pretty meaningless.
Liverpool have spent about 70 million pounds and also have got Milner and Ings on frees.
They should be expecting to push very hard for top 4 and any points will be hard won on Sunday regardless of who Hughes picks.
For what its worth I think we will go something like this:
Butland
Cameron Ryan Muni Eric
Whelan VG
Arnie Adam Walters
Diouf

Cameron will play next Sunday - not sure where yet, but another good game today seals his place. Bardsley and Wilson have a chance too, after how Johnson and Muni played yesterday. Diouf is nailed on up top, and Walters and Arnie either side. Glenn will hold, but Hughes may go for the extra solidity of Sidwell, not Rip, to partner him, and Afellay may just have come aboard too late to challenge Adam or Walters for a start. Ryan's fitness still concerns me, as does that of Erik.
Butland
Bardsley Cameron Wilson Muniesa
Whelan Van Ginkle
Walters Adam Arnautovic
Diouf

Adam surely has to start? Why? Are we blessed enough (especially with goals) to leave someone out who got 5 in the last 8 games?

I know I might face the ducking stool for this, but I've been thinking. Shame we're rotating the team today, they could have had a practice: The spawn of the devil, the 3-5-2
---------------Butland----------------- ------Cameron Shawcross Wilson--------- ---Johnson Van Ginkel Adam Arnautovic-- ----------------Affelay---------------- -----------------Diouf-----------------

At least Rob appears to have an appreciation of what formation we're likely to play ... I can't believe the number of people on this thread suggesting it's likely to be 4-2-3-1.

Heaven knows what you were like when Pulis was our manager cus we never signed any players until the last five minutes of the window. Of course I'm sure you know exactly who Stoke should buy and of course they would want to come and have the correct attitude. You are absolutely correct that it is one week until the season kicks off. I would prefer players to make mistakes now rather than after next Saturday. I watched the Porto goals and of course I question the marking same as you but I also watched the delivery and thought it was pretty good. We still have the team that beat Liverpool 6-1, minus Begovic and NZonzi and so I certainly am not going to start whining on like quite a few on this site. I think signing eight players has been excellent business and I am also thinking that we might perhaps get two more in before the deadline as well as two or three out. It is not compulsory that we throw money around like confetti!
