Not for Stoke, at Stoke, hypothetical right, in a competitive game.
Say for some reason Barca have had a stinker of a season and we have crept in to the Europa.
What kind of reception could he expect?
I must admit I have always rather celebrated our complete refusal down the years to join in any sycophantic fawning when the stars of the global game have been in town but would we make an exception for this man?
At a least a respectful silence or would we still try to hound him out of town like the rest of them!?

If he was playing against Stoke I hope he´d get the same vitriolic reception we should give to everyone who plays against our team.

Clap 'em on, clap 'em off but when they're on the pitch give them hell and do everything we can to put them off their game. Same goes for anyone

Fair enough, I am sure he would not expect or ask for anything different. I just think my eyes would be drawn to him like no other, kind of in the presence of footballing deity if there is such a thing and I honestly don't know how I would react. I mean 'Lionel Messi, you're a wanker, you're a wanker' wouldn't quite feel right somehow but perhaps I am going soft

Didn't stand out at all. Same with Ronaldinho. And Riquelme. All great players seem to have stinkers when I watch them - maybe they feel intimidated in my presence...

Same as any other player, I don't see why he'd get anything else tbh.

When he scored a hattrick he would/should get applause like the best players do.
Ronaldo at Old Trafford Ronaldinho at the Bernabeu Messi at various places And so on...

It'd be weird seeing Lionel Messi down the Brit. I usually clap any goal to myself if it's a worldy, like that Bale one from Aaron Lennons cross on the right.

i think it'd be insulting for him if we treated him differently. What's to say it's not as important to Messi to experience the bear pit than it is to Stoke fans to see Messi play?
