It is one thing having a good squad but we will only be able to select 25 in the squad. With perhaps one more coming in it will mean someone will miss out. I think that Sidwell might choose regular football at this stage of his career.

Walters if we get a right winger but that will be a deadline day type job I'd imagine.
I hope we can get rid of Bardsley but the hope isn't very big.

I have a feeling Walters might leave. No news on the contract yet and it looks like we are really gunning for a new right winger which would leave him out of the starting XI. The final nail in the coffin for me is the fact we gave Wingie a new contract and honestly if we believed we'd be 100% keeping SJW then surely Wingie would be completely surplus to requirements after signing a right winger AND Afellay. Just a feeling Personally really like Jon and would love him to be our backup, but much like Huth I think he is too good to be backup and not good enough for our first team if we plan to keep pushing on. As they've been great servants to the club we should do what is fair and let Walters leave if an opportunity arises for him to play first team football in the Prem, much like we did with Huth.

Walters, Wilson and Crouch to be sold, probably two of them to West Brazil. Odemwingie out on loan

It would seem that our first choice XI is likely to be:
Butland
Johnson Ryan Muniesa Pieters
Whelan MVG
New right winger Bojan Arnautovic
Diouf
Given Joselu Affelay Adam Wilson Sidwell or Cameron
That leaves just ONE space on the bench for any one of:
Sidwell or Cameron Ireland Crouch Walters Bardsley Odemwingie
Obviously there will be injuries (indeed Bojan might not be ready for the start of the season) but if we get to the end of August and any of those six haven't even made the bench in that time, then it really wouldn't be a surprise to see any of them leave.
I can't see Wollscheid leaving even if he doesn't make the bench though.

I think Sidwell will probably get regular football for us this season, whilst he's not NZonzi I think he's still a decent player at this level and a useful squad player.

Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Walters go especially considering his contract situation. With us supposedly only offering 1 extra year on top of his last year Pulis will no doubt tempt him with a 3 year contract hence he gets the extra year he always wanted.

Ireland , he's way down the pecking order . Would be madness to let Walters go IMO

Can't see why people keep mentioning Odemwingie. He's only just been given a contract, we wouldn't have done this if he wasn't part of the plans. Not reached his full form again yet but he was brilliant in the World cup and the start of last season. Bardsley would have been my gut instinct but there might be no takers.

Tex should surely go out on loan - or be released. He hasn't shown any indication that he can break into the 25 man squad at present.

The Wolly signing isn't half going to look strange if he's regularly struggling to make the 18.
Suppose time will tell. Hughes might have different ideas.
The Wilson non-re-signing is maybe one to watch - but if he did go anywhere, we'd certainly need to buy a left-back.

I'd hope Bardsley would leave before Wilson who is much more versatile being able to cover the whole of the back four.

I think Hughes would like to see Walters stay but Walters will be wanting to start which Hughes cannot promise and so I think in the end he might leave. I also still believe that Sidwell would go because with both players they want to be playing at this time in their careers. Texiera will go out on loan. There is no chance that Ireland will go. He is an outstanding squad member with great vision!

Did you read my post until the end chap? Yeah the last line is what prompted me to post - I just mean the subs list is even longer with Wolly on it. Yeah i could have included Shenton, Tex and Moha too but I was just concentrating on players who might get the hump if they don't start making the bench. I can't see past Walters and Crouch being the two most likely to go, although I'm sure Hughes would dearly love to move Bardsley on, although you would think that it's likely to be difficult.

That's it folks, keep writing off Walters.
The summer wouldn't be the same without this Oatcake feature.

Crouch, Adam and Wingie have all just signed new contracs so unlikey they are going anywhere. Moha is 19 so doesn't count towards the 25 - similalry Shenton. If Butland and Given stay fit Haugard will get some loan time with recall.Tex will probably also be shipped out to get some game time
Ireland will be happy to hang around and toss it off so long as he's in the 25 - we'll hold on to Wilson as cover across the back as Shawcross and Muniesa's fitness is suspect (in fact I'd like to see another central defender brought in)
I'm with everyone else on Walters - he will be one of Pulis's traditional deadline day signings. Bardsley will hold fire to see if Johnson can do the defending we'll require of him. And no-one will be in for Bojan until he's proved his form and fitness again.
Ones that concern me are Diouf and Arnie - new faces in their places may have prompted them to get their agents to make discreet enquiries.

That's it folks, keep writing off Walters. The summer wouldn't be the same without this Oatcake feature. It's not about writing off Walters but rather (regardless of what you think about the player), being objective about the question and coming up with a pragmatic response. Hughes has just signed Affelay and is going balls out to sign a big money right winger, if he gets that player, then it's going to be hard to find a place on the bench for Jon, never mind a starting spot. He's only got a year left on his contract and there doesn't seem any great rush to give him the extension that he's after, so all things being equal, it wouldn't be a great surprise if he left, would it? That's not writing him off but simply honestly looking at the situation. He might stay but in terms of who is actually most likely to leave, he makes a pretty compelling candidate.

Looking at the teamlist today at the official site seeing noone´s wearing number 4. Strange.
Noone on that list will leave, I guess...

I wouldn't automatically assume Arnie will start now Affelay has signed and if we get a new winger.
