Johnson getting '8' is up there with the all-time squad number howlers.
Up there with Steve Sidwell getting '9' at Chelsea

Interesting that Moha will have "Choulay" on the back of his shirt

Is Johnson up to the challenge of following our other 2 Premier League '8's, Soares and Palacios?
Big shoes.
Also seems a big ask for Afellay to have to follow Pugh and Ness.

Noticed that too. Maybe a defensive addition on the cards?

Squad numbers for Shenton, Telford, Lecygne and Moha.
But not Waddington or Molina.

So we have 4 and 22 spare. Not much wiggle room for a big name.

I like seeing "1 Jack Butland". Didn't he turn down offers from Chelsea & Man City to come here as he didn't want to waste away on the bench? It'll be great to see him get a full season of top-flight football & I'm sure we'll, quite literally, be in safe hands!

So we have 4 and 22 spare. Not much wiggle room for a big name. "Big names" are as likely to choose a high number as a low number these days. In world terms Bojan and Crouch are probably as well known as any of our players, yet both chose high numbers when they came to the club have stuck with them ever since. And Shawcross, our longest standing player, was allocated a high number when he arrived as a teenager and still has it 9 years later when he is our captain.

Moses was 13 last season was he not?
Our squad numbers piss me off, Ireland. 7. Why can't we do them properly?

Do the rules still apply that you can't change your number once allocated unless the club agree to reimburse fans for the previous shirts purchased with names/numbers on the back?

Well it's obvious that we're after a winger of such high quality that he can't make do with No. 11, which is a typical wingers number - oh no, he'll have to double that and play with No. 22 on his back :-)
And No. 4 is reserved for Leroy Fer .....

Since Johan Cruyff, No. 14 has been magic to the Dutch, so I guess Afellay must be pleased

Beardsley still No 2 Beardsley - haven't thought about him in years - good player in his day though although he had more clubs than you could shake a stick at. Born in Hexam - I have a second cousin living there - nice town.

I dislike Glenda even more now. A right back with 8 on his shirt, what's the world coming to?
