Nah, you're right mate. Here's the channels it's on. Viasat is pretty popular in the pubs round here so I'm sure you'll find somewhere showing it. liveonsat.com/los_soc_friend_club_ALL.php

It's a strange format for a "cup", I would have liked to see us have another crack at Valencia, but there's always the Europa League next season

Interesting thoughts from Bowen! ""We got straight out to Germany for two games back-to-back and we're mindful that we want two real fresh elevens playing both games," he added. "We wouldn't want to use any of the starting eleven for the second game in the first either, so we're taking a few younger lads as well to help cover some of the substitute positions. "With that the case when kick off comes for both games we'll have fresh elevens out on the field ready to give it their all." Butland Given Johnson Shawcross Muni Pieters Bardsley Wolly Cameron Wilson Whelan MVG Sidwell Ireland Walters Adam Arnie Wingie Bojan Afellay Diouf Joselu I'd imagine Shenton will share the duties with Bojan?

Good strength in depth there, bayernoatcake. Crouch doesn't even make either line-up!

Good strength in depth there, bayernoatcake. Crouch doesn't even make either line-up! Too many fillers and not enough quality imo especially in midfield. And there isn't but then I don't get the Joselu signing and Crouch's contract extension. Together they make no sense. We have 3 frontline strikers for 1 position, makes no sense. Again I've been saying this for ages

Again I've been saying this for ages It's the best relative strength I've seen in the squad in a long time. Every player there is inarguably premier league standard, suggests we may look to push for Europa via the cups this season? Also, maybe it's just the fact that Crouch, at any age, scores goals. Age doesn't really affect his play given his main assets. Joselu is a different type of big man who is a bit more mobile, maybe Crouch has been kept just in case it doesn't work out and we aren't left in the lurch?

I still think we've got too many players and not enough quality. A squad of 22/23 should be enough. Maybe they've panicked their bollocks off with the injuries we were getting last season? Can a club like Stoke keep a bloke on 50k a week "just in case"? Just doesn't seem very sensible to me from a financial and potential squad harmony stand point.

Crouch is on £50k a week? I would have thought so. Maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less but that ball park figure. Why would he have taken a pay cut to sign a new deal?

Why would we keep him when we've replaced him and got 3 other players on top of the new bloke who can play up front? We never needed another striker as soon as Crouch signed his new deal. Just odd. I don't think he'd sign for a pay drop, would you?

Wingy wouldn't have much choice (another one whose contract extension needs to be questioned), Crouchy would have had options which gives him a better negotiating stance. I don't think for one second he'll be on much less than when he started here.
We're giving a lot of 30 year olds contracts willy nilly it feels. Will Walters be next?

Good strength in depth there, bayernoatcake. Crouch doesn't even make either line-up! There will be subs for each game so Crouchie (+ other squad members) will be in there MH implied that no player will feature in both games as they are on consecutive days

I'll be honest this window I'd have been happy with keeping Crouch and Walters and releasing Wingie. We then needed a right winger and Moses. Then we'd have; RW Bojan Moses Walters Ireland Arnie Diouf Crouch With Walters on the bench covering. It's plenty of options.
