How near are we to the maximum squad number of 25 plus aged over 21 players now?
It may be that we need to send a couple out on loan (rather than sell imo)

Bardsley has to be got rid off in any way we can, it's going to be hard though. |

Shouldn't the question be, what will be our best BENCH if Afellay signs?
I'd be very surprised if Hughes is seeing him as anything more than cover (to begin with at least).
If he has a beast of a preseason, then things may change but I bet you a pound to a penny, that Hughes is still going balls out to sign a top drawer right winger.

Butland; Johnson, Shawcross, Cameron, Pieters; Whelan, Adam; Walters, Bojan, Arnie; Diouf
Maybe, just maybe Muniesa in for Cameron and Van Ginkel in for Adam.

But if he's the man for the season then I'll worry. Even with Van Ginkel in it just looks so much weaker than last season. |

I can only believe that quite a few young people write on this thread. We have got to get through a really tough season and we have to name twenty five players. Who starts the game will be the best team Mark Hughes chooses to put out but it is far more important that the 25 are all good and that they will continue the ethos of the excellent dressing room we have had for five or six years now.
Afellay is a calibre of player that is definitely going to improve our squad. He has played at the highest level and he is coming into a team where he has already played with Pieters, Bojan, Muniesa and Moha. All in all an excellent signing if it is finalised!

I find the amusing part is that the same people who were saying we only needed 1 or 2 are now saying there's still time for more signings.  It's been a shocking window so far. |
