We had a perfectly decent viscous bastard but some genius sold him, who should have been challenging on their second by the way I have not seen it. Selling Huth and seemingly replacing him with Wolly is one of the very few things I've not agreed with Hughes on. I am quite happy to accept (although maybe not agree) that MH didn't see big Robert fitting in here and had we signed a younger version, I could see the sense in it. We are now only left with one centre back who really relishes a physical battle and when he isn't playing we look a bit soft at the back. Given Ryan's back issue I firmly believe we need another commanding central defender as should the worst happen and our skipper misses a large chunk of the season we certainly aren't going to improve on last year's achievements. Pretty much agree with all of that Jamo, we have put ourselves in a stupid position Huth as he played for Leicester last season is exactly what we need if Ryan is out for any length of time, we now need to shell out at least another £5m on top of the £3m we have paid out already for Wolly why ? absolute madness could it all really be down to a clash of personalities ?

Some real pieces of work on this board at the moment. There is, fancy resorting to unnecessary personal abuse, a right piece of work...... Whoever sorted this out needs to be sacked if true, he is shocking total waste of money considering the player we have lost to fund this, massive double whammy someone needs to hold their head in shame, worst decision since Hughes took over and one that could cost us big style next season. Confirming earlier suspicions... You are a cunt.

Not worried by the performance at all and I'm more than hopeful of another excellent season. Only slight concern was the second goal which seems to suggest we still can't defend corners very well. The fact that nobody WANTED to win the ball as it came across highlights our lack of aggressive players throughout the side. We're a bit too "nice" and need a couple more vicious bastards around the place in my opinion. The game hasn't bothered me one bit tbh. The abomination of a window thus far has. The squad is weaker and the team is much weaker. We need to do some good business and fast. We've lost 3 class players and only replaced one and that's with a green replacement (Butland). The performances in the games are an irrelevance.

Transfer window is open until end of August - why all the angst ?
plenty of time yet to fill any percieved gaps
I still think we'd do Liverpool on the first day with no new additions
and if anyones worried about our back four - just look at Liverpool's - its utterly gash !

I'm worried we could get overrun. Add that to the fact we cant defend set pieces and we'll probably concede a few this season. Spot on mate and i said exactly the same last week

A fit Bojan will be like another new signing because we played the majority of last season without him and the problem right back position has been filled with an England international. I think the keeper position is the only place that is obviously weaker from last season. I liked Zonz and always thought he was underrated at Stoke, but since he's gone people talk of him as if he was a world class irreplaceable midfield maestro - he wasn't.

If Van Ginkel does it just leaves us in the same place next season, it's short term thinking that won't help us. Joselu hopefully won't be playing much, nothing against him but I just really like MBD and he deserves to play up front from the off. Bojan needs 6 months, it's unfair not to give him that with the severity of the injury he had. Glen Johnson is awful, always has been but we shall see. I'm not holding my breath on that one, at least he can attack unlike Cameron and Bardsley though. He's not irreplaceable but there aren't many out there that can replace him, we still need one.

Nope, this window so far* has been shit, I don't know how anyone can argue otherwise. We've lost 3 of our best players and replaced 1 of them semi adequately. Yet people don't seem worried because we've got a bloke whose played 19 times for a shit AC Milan side and Steve Sidwell. Sorry for not doing cartwheels about that. One winger on the books doesn't seem a concern either. The only hope is that we're waiting on a biggy, which is what we need. That central midfield area though looks average at best. Probably yeah, we've got to keep Shawcross and Muni fit for it though. *emphasis on the so far for those hard of reading!

Like the players, I don't give a shit about yesterday and there were a few plus points amongst the debris. However, how anyone can suggest the window so far has been anything other than desperately poor is beyond me. If we go with what we have a fortnight today we will be going in to the new season markedly weaker than last season and bearing in mind the (lack of) backing Hughes has had previously, that will be fucking unforgivable.
It's time for the hot air behind the scenes to stop, it's time for some action.

I think we've bought way too many squad fillers in that don't improve anything as it is!

I don't actually think he's been bought to replace Diouf and I think Hughes will look to start both of them. I'm not sure how he's going to set the team up to do that but in the friendly against Singapore, Joselu was playing a deeper role behind the main striker. It's going to be interesting

His aerial duel stats from last season (most won in the Bundesliga) seem to suggest he's some sort of Crouch replacement. His record is average though but I think he'll be solid if unspectacular.

Lost our best winger from last season, was always going to happen and very shit. Sold our third best centre back, expected but still shit. Bought in 2 back up goalies, one who is greener than green and then one who is nearly if not already past it but will do a job. Bought in a player who has played 19 games in a top league in his career....wooooo! Bought in no one yet. Bought in a bloke who failed his audition last season miserably. And then there's Glen Johnson who I can't abide, a striker we didn't overly need and anyone else? I can't remember.
