After the "Big Six" comes "The Next Seven" I couldn't be bothered to compile beyond our tenure in the Premier League, so here it is .... The Next Seven!

You've lost me already...
I thought we finished 9th last year?
Apologies if I'm missing something.

After the "Big Six" comes "The Next Seven" I couldn't be bothered to compile beyond our tenure in the Premier League, so here it is .... The Next Seven! Very well put together piece of research. Apart from last season we were 9th. Season before we were above WBA, as we were top midlands club for 1st time in a very long time. Beyond that my attention sort of wavered, but again...well researched...

It's calculated off previous three seasons, not just one... What is the significance of averaging three seasons? Boredom, old friend? I must admit I'm very confused by these statistics! If light can be shed then I'd be pleased because I love a good stat!

Not going to Singapore or Cologne though - I'll have to put up with seeing us thrash Liverpool AGAIN as my next match! Let's hope you see us playing for the Asia trophy and not for third place. Cheers

It's calculated off previous three seasons, not just one... What is the significance of averaging three seasons? Honestly? No idea. Not convinced 3 seasons defines a big a team you are.

It's calculated off previous three seasons, not just one... What is the significance of averaging three seasons? Nothing scientific about 3 seasons, other than many teams have gone from pretty good to nothing in just 3 seasons. To look at just one season, you can just look at the league table for each year, but abberations do happen. To look at two seasons, if one was an abberation, then it would have a massive impact on your standing, but 3 seasons seems to be a reasonable indicator of some developing trend.

Some teams have gone from top 10 to nothing in a season, e.g.Newcastle last season.

Some teams have gone from top 10 to nothing in a season, e.g.Newcastle last season. I would argue that they have not gone to nothing, (i.e. not relegated), simply had a bad season, which if repeated this season will certainly mean they fall out of "The Next Seven". This is exactly why I used 3 seasons. It still gives a more "current" picture but allows a team to have an bad year now and then without going from "Big Six" to "The Dreadful Remnants". due to one abberation.
