...after watching so many men's WC Finals that have been utter shite. Tight cagey affairs...and then there's this! 4 goals in 16 mins FFS.

My exact thought. No one will remember Charlie now. And player just did it in a world cup for a hat trick. That's dirty.

It was 10 yards closer and it bounced over the keeper about a foot in the air and wasn't against one of the best goalies in the world. Edit-2 foot-she could have saved it with any part of her body!

The keeper really should of saved it though, if she had stayed on her feet she would have. Great strike still though

A tad bit harsh , courtios was a goal keeping error , when a keeper is beaten from so far out it can be nothing else !

Funny how those people who slated me for saying that it wasn't goal of a season because you never see goals like it, or because of the skill to hit the ball that far, to catch the keeper off guard. Well I'm laughing my fucking arse off right now.

I happen to agree , as far as women's football is concerned the bollocks written about it is laughable at times , I remember a poster saying a while back that it was shite cos no woman can kick the ball over 40 yards, lol lol lol

That's why a goal like that will never be goal of the season for me. Always is a goal keeping error , can't be anything else ! Still a good goal though , never goal of the season , just a perfect example of the lack of credit in the women's game though and people seeing what they want to see , if that's in the premiership it's "a wonder goal " In the women's World Cup "the keeper could of done better " the keeper can ALWAYS do better in these circumstances !

It was a beautiful goal, just like Charlie's was. Neither was goalkeeper error. Give credit where credit is due.

You're telling me a keeper gets lobbed from 40 yards and it's not an error? Lol.

It's not too different from Xabi Alonso's goal against Newcastle in 2006.
A few of the descriptions from the press at the time:
"Outrageous" "Wonder goal" "Brilliance"
The fact is that the keeper (Steve Harper) slipped and should have saved it. Crap keeping, just like Carli Lloyd's in my opinion. But, if you don't buy a ticket you don't win the raffle as a famous advocate of females in football once said...

You're telling me a keeper gets lobbed from 40 yards and it's not an error? Lol. Yes, because keepers are coached to stand elsewhere, act as a sweeper etc. Sent from my SM-G850F using proboards

It was a great goal and a great performance by the U.S. Girls.
They hit them so hard in the first half the Japs had no ability to play their own game. It reminded me of a performance not so long ago ????
