The men's game and women's game are totally different. Understatement of the decade. Their international teams wouldn't beat a blokes conference North side. Infact neither would arsenal ladies. Hence it'll never be popular.

Some people just cant be happy for anyone can they I am happy for them, but when I see comments slagging of the mens team because of how well the women have done, then I voice my opinion too. Men's competition and Women's competition are completely different. Still happy for the ladies to have finished 3rd in their competition.

Hence it'll never be popular. I'm not sure what relevance that statement has. 99% of (female) Federations Cup tennis players would not beat 99% of (male) Davis Cup tennis players, would they? Yet women's tennis is popular. And women's football draws huge crowds in some parts of the world - as it did in Britain during WW1.

Unfortunately Lakeland, i'm sure that some members of the male population still go out dressed in tailed coats, top hats and carrying a swagger stick because they seem to live in that era.

Ok, we'll see how popular it'll become. I'm sure it will die a death now the WWC is over but let me know I'm wrong if it doesn't.

I really don't get these people who take a superior attitude to women's sport. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

That isn't the point I was making. I was pointing out that the fact that a top women's football team would usually fail to beat a lower level men's team was not a reason to assume it would not become popular. A heavyweight boxer will always beat a flyweight - that doesn't stop people watching flyweight boxing. A lightweight rowing 8 will not beat a heavyweight rowing eight - so what? Daley Thompson would always beat Denise Lewis or Jessica Ennis (over their 7 events) - that doesn't stop all three of them being great to watch and very popular with the public young and old, male or female.

Bang on. I'd also rather watch a group of women playing their butts off for their country than a bunch prima donnas that couldn't give a shit.

It seems the only reason that the knockers are criticising is simply because theyre women.

The women's game has many qualities that the men would do well aspire to.
It's refreshing to see football without players diving, rolling around on the floor every two.minutes, trying to get opponents booked and sent off, arguing with and abusing officials etc.
USA and Japan are both technically very good and entertaining to watch imo.

In terms of ability, the comparison would be with an over 50s county tennis championship. Much as I'm glad for the women, the standard of play - especially in defence - is what I would have expected from my lads' under 12s teams. We all know the reason people watched women's football during WW1, then stopped afterwards.

I agree about the general behaviour but as for the last bit... technically very good? I don't think so.

Who are the people comparing the men's game to the women's game the most? Answer is the women themselves. All they are banging on about is achievements since 1966 and 1990.
IMO it's dog shit.
