They were older and stronger in every position. In that case you have to move the ball quickly to make space and I didn't think we did that. Molina looked good when he came on, I think they've been building his fitness up. I'm sure team selection had one eye on Saturday, which will be a step up again. There's not much we can do that side though is there? Or is there a chance N'Goy will be fit?

I was reliably informed by one the Hednesford Town barmaids, that she didn’t recognised many the Pitmen players on the team sheet. But I don’t trust women when it comes to football matters.
Unfortunately I arrived late, so I had to partake in the consumption of the Tetley Smoothflow from the Main Stand Bar. But for you lot who are interested, the local pub the Cross Keys serves many a splendid fine ale. Many of which I sampled after our hammering of Heath Hayes in the Staffordshire Cup last season.

Ngoy has a shoulder injury I think. There are new faces in the team and it's going to take time to settle. A settled 21's team lost to Walsall Wood last season so it's not going to change over night. Bit surprised Ronaldo and Tarbuck seem to have moved on.

Very true but barring Waddington I think of all these have been in or around the side now for a bit. I liked Ronaldo at 'Castle but wasn't so impressed with Tarbuck tbh. He scored two goals I know but didn't show enough with his general play for me. Ronaldo was the opposite. It's safe to say we need to get some wingers in, much like the first team! On a side note, how cockney is Hodges? I couldn't take him seriously!

If you think I'm building up to concluding the Stoke team was poor you are right. I was very disappointed by what I saw tonight. I'm aware that a couple of better players are not with the squad but I'm afraid the damage done to the development set up is going to take a number of years to repair. We are still in the process of papering over the cracks by bringing in players from other clubs who are available for a reason is the only conclusion I can draw?? I remarked on twitter to some of the lads that this time last year I saw a Man United u21 side without their best players who were away with the first team demolish a full strength Altrincham side that are a league above Hednesford 6..0. I promise you we are light years behind and yet that is the level we have to aspire to. I don't want to be harsh on young lads but we wont be seeing much coming through anytime soon on that showing. I've been watching Stoke youth teams for a number of years and I promise you teams that featured the likes of Karl Henry with Marc Goodfellow in would have torn that current crop a new arsehole which isn't good when we are trying to develop Premier League players.

I see you've changed your tune on the age thing! No but if you want to make a deal on a couple of years difference as though that should be an issue that's up to you. I think we both know that it shouldn't at this stage but when you are twelve yourself I suppose two years is a lot? I'm surprised you think it is so important a difference to be honest. I would suggest full time trainers against lads who have worked all day would equalise a year or so difference in the main. I do know Hednesford had some older players on at times like Marvin Robinson and brought Todd on second half but there was plenty around the same age group. But like I said to a youngster like you a couple of years is a lot but to a fossil like me it isn't. The more of these lads they can get out to play mens football the better. Keeping possession is fine but the sideways passing routine was so over done it was painful to watch given there was no end result at all.

One of them is barely 17 and playing out of position, it's quite a hefty difference but I agree they should do better. You sound like TP now. The reason for the lack of end result was probably down to the striker being a 2nd year scholar and a young one (still 17) at that who really should be nowhere near this side yet. And the right winger being a central midfielder who has just turned 17! I have no idea about Waddington but Roberts and Lecygne are very similar midfielders, simple passers who keep the game ticking. I never expected them to win.

And rather ironically it's a very "FIFA" generation way of looking at things. Ooooh he scored he must be good....his general play against Newcastle Town wasn't up to scratch and that's the bigger picture they would have been looking at. But why let a cheap, unnecessary dig get in the way of engaging brain first eh? Like I said, I believe him and Ronaldo have been sent back to wherever, that leaves us massively short on the wings.

www.stokecityfc.com/news/article/evian-is-just-the-tonic-2575120.aspx"We got straight out to Germany for two games back-to-back and we're mindful that we want two real fresh elevens playing both games," he added.
"We wouldn't want to use any of the starting eleven for the second game in the first either, so we're taking a few younger lads as well to help cover some of the substitute positions.
"With that the case when kick off comes for both games we'll have fresh elevens out on the field ready to give it their all."

Yup that'd definitely explain it!
And if we presume Eddy will be off too because he looks much better than Waddington then you can see why we'd cancel the Macc game.
Still makes no sense for the 18s mind!

I wonder when the official site will have an article about the new scholars and update the squad list for the U-21's and U-18's? What's going on at Stoke towers this summer with the media side?

Out of interest how did Moseley do in the game at the weekend? I know as a team we didn't play well from what I've read.
