I have no idea if stokemark's post is true but we've barely seen a shift in policy.
The pathways have been well and truly blocked too with the size of the squad.
Would love to have seen a few vs Luton.

Hope to see a couple make the move up in the coming years. Plenty of transfer ins this summer. Hopefully they improve the other players during training and we start having a formidable u21

Hughes, Pulis whoever if they aint good enough they aren't going to get picked, the first team manager isn't the youth coach and isn't to blame, this is an on going problem for quite some years now.

Would love to have seen a few vs Luton. Maybe Hughes thought it more important to give game time to some of the newcomers whop will be needed for Prem games. Time for youngsters in later games? Also, few youngsters will have had much time to impress for selection (other than possibly Shenton, Moseley, Molina, Moha). You are more up to date then me at this level so I'm just surmising.

I'm still properly titsed that we let the real Ryan go. The Woodentops- It Will Come. We're talking about shots right? Yeah but I'm being facetious I'm more or less over Shotton now. Seriously Sir Peter has stated his aim to have a succession of Academy players bosting through. Four in the squad is the latest clarion call, so it's on the agenda.

To turn things on their head a bit I'd also like to see more senior squad players prepared to turn out for the U21's to maintain or regain their fitness levels like Bojan and Wilson did recently. Everyone can benefit from that.

The Luton match would have been the perfect chance to integrate the likes of Moha, Moseley and Shenton into a first team squad, even if they didn't play.
If they don't get in the squad for a match like that there is little hope that we'll see any youngsters this season.
That said, our U21 squad is getting stronger and stronger so hopefully we shall see a couple of them come through in the next two years or so.

I do think that Hughes will give a chance to anyone who he and his staff think deserve a chance. This will likely be against one of the 'lesser' teams, a cup game or sub where we are in a strong league position. He won't want to destroy their confidence by giving them a start and facing someone like Hazard in full flow or Kompany with the bit between his teeth I work with a young man who was in the Stoke academy / youth set up until a year or so ago. He informs me that, through his contacts, the view is that Hughes is less keen on giving youngsters a chance thanPulis ! Sounds like sour grapes to me.

Do you know the side that played Paul? If it was young they did well with what Leicester put out! Don't know about the first half but in the 2nd it was definitely a young side including roberts, shepherd, jarvis, Coban, waddington and Taylor. I guess Leicester may have made changes of their own by then but it seems a good result considering Leicester are in division 1 of the U21 league.

Lost 3-0 to Everton.
From the sounds of it we started this game and the season with a back 3. Why? The U-21's don't play with a back 3, the first team don't play with a back 3? It sounds like a coach who thinks he's Roberto Martinez is trying to be fancy and innovative with a formation that will help no one in the long run. They ought to play the same formation as the teams above and adapt if they need to around that.

It was by no means evertons strongest team but they had pace down the wings and all the older lads down the middle. We don't usually come away from there with a result and it definitely wasn't the worst I've seen us play against them. We seem to have a problem creating chances, apart from one blocked shot on goal and a header I can't think of us posing much threat.

Verlinden played for us which is a turn up. But we do have a real lack of wingers throughout the academy really but still good to see none the less. Good test really though as they put 3 players with a lot of league experience.
