The moment Sir Stan re-signed from blackpool would be up there with the top i would imagine?! No need to imagine, it most definitely was, increased the attendance by 3000 immediately.

Gordon Banks, surely?? Record fee for a goalkeeper when he transferred(?) Named as the 2nd best goalkeeper of the Century behind Lev Yashin (my all time favourite player!) FWA footballer of the Year in 1972/FIFA goalkeeper of the year on 6 occasions I always rated Yashin as best ever, still not seen anyone better.

Bojan was a "Rock the city signing" Its fair to say that I am a pretty keen football / Stoke supporter (been going for 40 odd years) albeit not a massive follower of teh game outside of these shores I had never heard of Bojan before and I would wager neither had 95% of the population of Stoke so I beg to differ Great signing but definately not 'rock the city' Interesting. As soon as we were linked with Bojan I was going mental. I knew all about his time at Barcelona, I couldn't actually believe we were linked with such a player. I'm 22 by the way, been following Stoke since I was about 6.

It's great to see us linked with some world known players as we have been of late, shows the club have ambition and not scared to have a go at signing them and also we can compete on a financial level. But before the days of the internet we really only had the Radio and The Sentinel to get transfer gossip, not 250 page long threads so our transfer business went totally under the radar. It came as a shock/suprise or even a disappointment when you found out who a new signing was...... Totally out of the blue and recall being so happy when we signed him

Not so much a single signing, but that month or two when we got the likes of Fuller, Hendrie, Diao and Berger on loan really showed we meant business.
It was the first time in years we'd shown any sort of ambition.
