O'Neill; Asprey and Allen; Clamp, Stuart and Skeels; Matthews, Viollet, Mudie, McIlroy and Ratcliffe.
The team that got us up in 1963, and so saved us from the fate of Notts County or Preston North End - five decades or more of invisibility and sub mediocrity.
Incidentally, just on the subject of months coming up this season with only one home match: Stoke played no league match, home or away, between Boxing Day 1962 and 2 March 1963

I remember seeing at least 6 of them play (albeit only a few times) I would have Banks, Hudson, Smith, Chamberlain, Thorne, Stein, Fuller, Thomas (Mickey) and Bojan around that squad from more "recent" teams and the League Cup winners would be hard to ignore: Banks, Marsh, Pejic, Bernard, Smith, Bloor, Eastham, Dobing, Ritchie, Conroy and Greenhoff...I'm tearing up at the thought!
