Should be a cracker this year. Think Contador might run out of steam as I still think the Giro/Tour double is not do-able without a bit of extra 'help', and I quite fancy Quintana to do it as long as his Movistar team are fully behind him and not pre-occupied with Valverde (that's quite a big 'if'). Not been fully convinced by Froome since his 2013 Tour win to be honest, and Nibali is a bit of a mystery as it's been almost impossible to judge his form in the past couple of months.
Looking forward to it starting but can't wait until it hits the mountains.

Great coverage here on MSNBC. I only ride indoors but knowing what it takes to put out an average 300 Kj over 45 mins gives me a lot of respect for the riders.

I love it. Can't wait for Saturday.
First time I think the big 4 (Froome, Contador, Nibali and Quintana) have all done battle in 1 race. I hope there are no crashes for any of them, could make for a very exciting 3 weeks

Massive fan of cycling since I had a case of man flu during the 2011 tour and spent a few days on the couch watching it and I was hooked. I'm hoping it'll be a great edition and packed with some cracking British talent. I'm quite excited to see how Simon Yates will perform.

Some say the tour is the place where art and sport collide and the peloton has a wonderful fluid, natural beauty. these blokes are the fittest in all of sport, extreme competitors, it's no wonder doping has been so very tempting for so many years.
Chris Froome anyone?

Why anyone wants to see a group of sweating drugged up cheats sitting on bikes, whilst waving a baguette at them is beyond me

Im going for tony martin stage one, anyone else? Just to be different I'm going to go Dowsett. You'd have to be a fool to go against Martin in a ITT but I am that fool.

Good call on Dowsett - he certainly has a huge TT victory in him, hopefully a world title. Just to have a bit of diversity, I'll go for Tom Dumoulin.

Its a shame Martin is so much better than everybody else because below him there are a group of riders which are very close in terms of times.

Had a small wager on Van Garderen e/w for a place at 40's before the Dauphine. Money still looks good, mind you I had a saver on Kelderman Sky will be quietly happy with today's outcome, letting Quickstep have all the work for the next 5 days. Some of Sky need a rest, only Thomas and Roche with Froome today. Froome looks like the eventual winner at this stage.

Shame Martin is now out so Froome takes the jersey by default I think they'd have been happy to leave it to Etixx for a few more days.
