....that you may have seen in your garden . Perhaps some of you may need help in identifying some birds you've seen.?
A bit of a change from politics eh ?
As usual I'll start ...
I've had Nuthatches , Woodpeckers , Kestrels , Goldfinches , Bullfinches , but the best so far has been Redpols last year ...
....Oh and a heron that swiped my goldfish.
How about you ?

Got me self a visiting pair of Chiff Chaffs at the moment.
A pair of Yellow Wagtails are brooding under the Canal bridge nearby, they're always flitting about. Been a slow starter this year around here. Saw a Mistle Thrush t'other day too. Havn't seen many Thrushes about recently. Nor Starlings for that matter. Most unusual brid I've seen so far this year was a Wryneck on me mum's bird table.

Seen a big rise in Goldfinches though . The Red Kite has been spotted at Beeston apparently .....they're moving north !

You don't see them here in the city but the nuthatch is an odd looking bird. I sometimes see one while visiting relatives out Betley way. It looks strangely reptilian in its movements as it walks down a wall. Long tailed tits look like a feather duster when on a feeder in numbers.
In the city, pied wagtails and magpies have rocketed in numbers. I rarely see a sparrow nowadays and the huge flocks of starlings of the past are gone. I have seen a buzzard but he was high up and heading somehere else fast.
The canals are a bit of a haven for wildlife. Apart from a variety of waterfowl and seagulls, yellow wagtails are common and I've seen various tits, jays, herons etc. In other widlife news I believe the English Crayfish is still holding out in the canal somewhere in Etruria.

I've had two tiny finches sitting together on my wall yesterday
Beautiful colours
Hang on I'll get them out of the bin and take a pic if their heads are still on........
Seriously, I don't know which type they were, but whites, browns, blacks, lovely clear markings
Think they're nesting in my hedge

Moved house a month ago , the real treat of the move is the spectacular red kites that circle over the area fantastic sight . I see loads nowadays when I'm in South Shropshire. The population has rocketed in the last 5 years. They have driven the buzzards out. I thought I saw one near Ashbourne last year but I'm not 100%

When I lived down there in the north of Stoke , I found that all bird species were very few and far between . I've often wondered why this was but I can only put it down to the cold winters and altitude.? Not sure ....

Just goes to show although we are a nation of dog lovers not all dawgs are friendly, some of the big dawgs are a fuckin nuisance if they are not socialised when they are young, anyway must go now the rabbits are at it again, maybe time to castrate Mr Mo we will be overrun at this rate and we can not afford to keep building more housing plus we are running out of space.
