Former shit tennis player Jeremy Bates is a Stoke fan. Crispin Hunt- singer in The Longpigs back in the nineties. I saw the longpigs at trentham gardens In '96 and he had a Stoke top on. He said trentham gardens was the second best venue in the world, the best was the Victoria ground.

Harry Grout off classic TV sitcom Porridge is a Stokie apparently, he grew up in Staffordshire so it would make sense I guess! This thread has appeared about as many times as Oatcake fillings and Tony Scholes' email address but it's the first time I've heard about Grouty/ Peter Vaughan. He's Maester Aemon in Game of Thrones for heaven's sake. His wiki says he was born in Staffs and went to school in Utchetter. He's 92. Anyone ever seen him down the Boothen? I supect I have brought this fact to the OMB's attention before on similar threads. About 20 odd years ago, there was an article in the Radio Times about Peter Vaughan, and he was wearing a Stoke shirt, and stating that he followed Stoke and used to go down there regularly when he lived more locally as a youngster.

I heard somewhere that Tony (Baldrick) Robinson is a Stoke fan. Used to be when he was dating the chairmans daughter, now Bristol C fan. "It comes easily now to Baldrick but he confesses to two previous indiscretions before he pledged himself to the Super Reds. The buffoon from Blackadder and the presenter of Time Team, otherwise known as Tony Robinson, supported Spurs as a kid then switched his allegiance to Stoke City after marrying the chairman's daughter. I guess you would."

Monica Hartland was the girls PE and sports teacher at Orleans School in Twickenham during my time there....1964 to 1971. The boys were taught by Ray Simmons who played rugby union for the second team at London Welsh. John McSorley who was also a javelin thrower and won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in 1970 joined the teaching staff around 1969. Given this group of talented teachers we must have been a huge disappointment! To finish......who ever has an opportunity to talk with Monica please pass on my best wishes (my name is Mike Probert) - maybe she will remember me!! By the way, my goalkeeping heroes are Alan Hodgkinson and Gordon Banks, who I definitely rate better than Yashin! Best wishes to you all and stay healthy!

Jeremy Paul passed away, he was a writer for shows such as Bergerac,Hetti Wainthrop & Misommer Murders. He sneaked in various SCFC related persons names as characters. really nice guy & big Stokie And also heavily involved in the writing of Upstairs Downstairs hence the butler being called ......Hudson. He always tried to create names & characters that were Stoke related. I recall Jackie Marsh in an episode of Mid Summer! I had the pleasure of being introduced to Jeremy at QPR away the season before we went up (if my memory serves me well!) by Roger Martin who as well as being a close friend & massive Stokie, is an actor who played the nephew in Terry & June, worked with Dave Allen, Home Sweet Home and many other TV shows. In the short time that I knew Jeremy, he was a warm, caring person who willingly gave time, advice and great inspiration to my daughter who was a budding writer at the time. She began to write and one of her plays featured in the Edinburgh festrival last year. Anyway, Jeremy Paul & Roger Martin should deffo be on the list!

As mentioned above, Monica posts regularly on here. I used to speak to her from time to time in the early 90s, when the Southern Supporters' Club had reduced railfares from Euston for lots of home games. She wouldn't remember me, however. Nick Hancock was also a regular on those trains. Plus the bloke who wore shorts even in sub zero temperatures. I didn't know about the Orleans connection, and I had two spells in Twickenham in the late 80s and 90s. Agreed on Banks/Yashin. Plus, Greenhoff was better than Eusebio. Fact!
