Someone who gets relegated once, ok. But two seasons in a row?.. nah, Fer is not for me.

Offer him a big bonus to sign a new deal (in the region of the fee it would cost to replace him) and make it clear he is not going anywhere unless a huge offer (Jordan Henderson's £20M at least) from a Champion's League comes in.
If he wants to run his contract down and go for free next year then so be it, but letting him go for £6M would be the poorest transfer business this club has done since signing Wilson Palacios.

Fer ran him ragged the year before too. He is worth a punt. Plus we have Muniesa???? I know it's a big ask. Fer is only 25 too!

I'd prefer to lose him on a free next year than sell him for £6m(Obviously that depends how much he wants to leave).

If he can get a move to someone like Totenham or better than he's done well, and I can't blame him.
I won't be happy if all this forcing a move is to get him to Swansea/West Ham/Everton. A very sideways move.

With Nzonzi transfer requests in the previous 2 summer transfer windows, I would think that we will have been looking closely at possible replacements.
Re our new boy:-
Manager Mark Hughes added: “Joselu has an excellent pedigree and is a player we have been tracking for some time.
It will be disappointing if N'Zonzi does go - even more of a disappointment if we lose our superstars in a couple of years time - we are at a new level at the moment - if we could just take that next step then such players will want to stay.

Leroy Fer would be my choice if we had to replace him. Similar player, probably not as good but then again there aren't many that are Fonz's dad does seem like a colossal shitbag doesn't he, hopefully it's an attempt to drum up wages and that's it I like this player too!

A very sideways move. We will be offering him a vastly improved contract I would guess. We could stick a release clause in so if a decent offer came in he could go if he wanted to.A bit of loyalty would be nice.

Unless we can get over 10 million i'd be tempted to keep him and run down his contract.
He'll still be busting a gut to play well to get a good deal.

Until Christmas when he signs a pre contract with a foreign club and he plays out the last 5 months of his contract trying not to get injured. It cuts both ways and it's a tough call to make.

My reading of it is that Percy is quoting what his father has said. We have been there before with his father. Let's wait and see, it may never happen and just be a negotiating posture.

To be fair I'm not that bothered if he leaves. Yes he's had a good season for us and was rightly player of the season, although no one really stood out as has been mentioned before. He's been pretty average seasons past and it's only this season where he's been more consistent. We've had this contract guff for the last two off seasons and this season looks to be no different. We've offered him a deal and he either signs it or we sell him. No ones bigger than the club itself. £10 million would be a starting figure for me if he wants to join any team that finished in the Top 6 this season but I seriously don't think he's good enough for a regular starting place in a top 4 team myself. This is his first consistent, good season? Either you have a short memory or you're trying to soften the blow of the thought of him leaving. This may have been his best season for us (arguably), but he has been very good since the day we signed him and aside from Shawcross I can't think of any more consistent players than N'zonzi. It would be a huge loss.

We can't have this attitude from N'zonzi either he signs or fucks off; he's a good player but his ego is driving his demand no one player is bigger than the Club.

Still confused on one point. As others have said I thought his father was not his agent, so why would he be speaking to the club? Yet the article in question states his father was speaking to the club. So what the hell?

Quelle suprise.....Time to think on who to replace as I think this has been on the cards for a while now Step forward moussa dembele I think Dembele is good going forward, but his defensive skills are questionable as I see it. When it comes to Zons he certainly is much better defensively than offensively. I really can't see Dembele in Zonz role in our team, I simply don't think he will do a good enough defensive job as already said!
