The only consolation may be if we sell him for decent money with a part-ex replacement coming from a bigger club...

I don't particularly blame him.
I've always pretty much thought it was inconceivable that a more attractive club wouldn't plonk about £8m down for him this summer and basically force us to sell him if he agitated (which he obviously will)
Just angry at us joining the ranks of the normal Premier League clubs who have to lose their best players every couple of years.

fuck him and fuck his dad, simples!!! good player yes but not the be all and end all, if he doesn't want play for stoke better off without imo!!! we've done amazingly well not to have sold any of our star players since arriving in the prem but this was always gonna change as times gone by and we've improved, it's the natural course of football. Like said above 2 big hits in one season is hard to take tho if bego goes aswell.

Sorry hadn't seen this thread. It's a bummer, I guess Geoff would be a possible replacement but we aren't going to get anyone half as good as le Fonz

Zonz needs to tell his dad to back off out of his business, every year we hear stories of how he thinks he can and should be playing for a champions league team which may very well be true, but how many offers do we get for him? How many have been put off because he's constantly coming across as unsettled and a hassle to deal with?
Like someone else said, sign him up with a £12 million champions league offer clause, if he's good enough for Stoke someone will snap him up, if not then he's obviously found his level for now

It's really hard to put a value on him.
I'd take him over about 80% of the midfielders in the league but there's no way we'll get silly money for him. He's just never had the spotlight shone on him outside of Stoke.
Even with 12 months on his contract anything under £8m would be robbery though.

He's had a good season, but not irreplaceable. If we can get £10 million for him, he can be replaced. Decent player, but his attitude over the years hasn't endeared him to many supporters. Good luck to him, but would be funny if he ended up at somewhere like West Brom, he's not as good as he thinks he is.

Geoff? come on, not fit to lace N'Zonzi's boots if we're being honest. Looks like this is the position we're going to have to spend serious money on now (either in fee or wages).. I've said it before but I'll say it again, think we should go for Dembele from Spurs. Top player who's lost his way a bit and has played for Hughes before.

Can't really begrudge him a move to a CL club, that is if there is one after him, and 12m minimum should be a starting price!

It's orate we can always go back in for Cattermole I'd certainly prefer Nzonzi sign than us bend over backwards for Koplikunta

Certainly put a downer on my Tuesday afternoon that's for sure and Geoff Cameron certainly CANNOT replace him either. If he goes we need a player of the same calibre because trust me he would be a massive loss.If it's true I would also make him see out his contract also

No idea how we begin to replace him - but the names bandied around recently like Sergi Roberto and Mousa Dembele are interesting.
Hopefully the Pizza Boys have got someone lined up. He performed such a crucial role in Hughesball

I'm sure we have been, but i really hope we've been preparing for this outcome for a while. With Cabaye talking about coming back to the prem and his apparent willingness to join an 'unfashionable' club, I wonder if we'd have a nibble? Would be bloody expensive though. Other than that: Sergi Roberto (will Barca sell before January)? Dembele? Any other suggestions for a technically and physically gifted central midfielder who can control the tempo of a game of football without looking like he's breaking sweat?

Let's hold our horses a bit here. The last words I heard directly from N'Zonzi was that he's happy at Stoke and would like to push on with us but it'd be difficult to ignore the advances of bigger, better clubs. I find it difficult to believe that he's gone from being happy as Larry three weeks ago to now completely disregarding any offer of a better contract with us.
In all honesty, after last season, it'd be silly not to think he'd be getting some interest from better sides than us. He was hardly going to go under the radar. If he does move on and it is to a bigger, better club playing in Europe then he'll go with my best wishes. Let's not get on his back just yet. I know he (his dad) has previous for transfer requests but this is a little bit different. For now, I think he could do far worse than staying here. If we push on again next season and finish in the top 6/7 then we become an even more attractive proposition once again. He has a chance to be a superstar at Stoke. He has it all to lose if he moves on.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out as he's such a pivotal player. I certainly wouldn't blame him if he moved on, I just hope he goes to somewhere he can shine like he has here and not rot away like an aged turd.

Why are we waiting until players are in their final year? Why not two years? You can't force a player to sign a contract extension.

Cabaye as a replacement would certainly soften the blow somewhat although he offers nowhere near the physical prowess of Zonz.

I honestly think you'd be hard pressed as to shout up as good a realistic replacement as that. Reference N'Zonzi. Its not a great surprise. Again its got to be 8 million as a minimum. His attitude at times has been suspect to say the least so its just a case of going again.

Has to be Roberto. Very dissapointing though. He's very at Stoke he may regret going to a bigger club where he's a small fish in a bigger pond.
