www.sbcnews.co.uk/technology/2015/06/02/football-streaming-websites-to-be-banned-from-uk-browsers/A court order has deemed that a number of live football streaming sites, including the popular Rojadirecta, LiveTV, and Drakulastream have been placed on a blocklist following pressure from the Premier League, and the FA. These blocks will be gradually added, bringing the total list to 128 separate websites Additional sites accused of aiding piracy are expected to be added in the coming months, these include more conventional and typical torrenting sites. Copyright owners have been urging the UK courts to take charge of this situation for some time. 904px-The_Pirate_Bay_logo.svg.png The football associations that had the sites banned have an option to add other sites to the list should they emerge, as is so often in the case in such situations. The Publishers Association was also celebrating this week after some of its own problem sites were blocked. Internet service providers will no longer show various eBook sharing sites. These blocks are wide ranging in their content, with the orders already banning renowned torrenting site; The Pirate Bay, and Torrentz.io.

Pathetic. About time they realised that streaming has done fuck all to affect attendances, and allow televised 3pm Saturday kickoffs.
In this day and age there's no reason why they shouldn't televise every Premier League game.

I'd go to more games if I didn't have the luxury of watching them for free at home on a Saturday afternoon while doing a workout or whatever. Id' certainly go to more away games.

TV Channels around the globe will still be showing the games so there will always be streams available to these. No matter how many they close one will always open up at some point with links.

Never work there will be somebody somewhere getting around it. The new legislation will mean it'll be easier for them to shut down new sites. Same happened when music came to the internet in the late 90s, they got away with that for about 5 years, then it became so big a problem that Napster, Kazzaa and the rest were shut down.

The next step would be for the likes of Google and Bing to not show any results for the term 'football stream' or whatever.

Can folk still download free stuff or stream from the net ? The answer is yes.

In this day and age there's no reason why they shouldn't televise every Premier League game. I agree it's time for the BPL to get into the 21st Century and show all the games live. I doubt it will affect attendance much because you can't beat the live experience but I could be wrong (won't be the first time). But is a bit ridiculous that I can watch the 3 o'clock games live in the rural Midwest, surrounded by cornfields and pigs and relay what's happening by phone to my mate in Nantwich.

It's impossible to stop just like pirate bay, that still exists for example, just another name now, the internet is too big to stop all these sites and stuff, so nobody needs to worry I can guarantee loads of streams will be available next season!

Surely just changing your VPN settings by downloading an extension and viewing it as if you're in a different country will be an easy way around this?

These blocks are wide ranging in their content, with the orders already banning renowned torrenting site; The Pirate Bay, and Torrentz.io. The Pirate Bay blocked lol it'll never work. Pirate Bay were shut down last November by the FBI.....then a week later it re-opened under a slightly different URL. these streaming and torrenting sites are constantly shut down and blocked by ISPs purely to make it look like they're taking action...same happened to Kickass torrents (which again just moved address and re-opened), limetorrents, 100 torrents and extratorrent. they just change URL or create a proxy. close down, re-open, close down, re-open repeat ad infinitum as long as there's an internet people will always find a workaround and it won't really accomplish anything. they just make it a big media story in the hope that a lot of people won't know this so stop even looking for the sites in the first place. don't see anything to worry about at all, i'd put money on it that Arkwright will still be here next season with his "Streams for today" thread and it will just as full as it ever has been

Most sites say they do not host material, they enable connection on a person to person basis. Government just don't understand why the WWW was created. Its original purpose was to allow communication through self connecting mechanisms. A fixed line telephone transmits through the same route every time, the internet finds it own path and is probably different everytime. That is why the military wanted it in the first place Impossible to stop.

VPN programs such as Hide MyAss (there will be free ones) for now you can do things that that you shouldn't do, by appearing to be in any country of your choice, very useful for the expats wanting to get around local gambling laws, Sky Go and so on
