All I'm saying is it's expenci enough to go to games so why pay all that money to go Germany Errm. Because I want to go to Germany and see a new place. I spent a small fortune following us in the Europa League and it was worth every single penny. I experienced stuff I'd never have done otherwise. If you can afford to go to Cologne you should. The actual football is only a side show.

We bought our tickets and decided go for the standing area (far cheaper than seating). Saves running around for tickets on the day and more time in the pub.

Each to there own but why go all that way for a friendly,in my opinion the club take enough money off us during the season Captain sensible - Happy happy happy talk, talk about the things you'd like to do

I understand why some would see friendlies from a purely footballing point of view as a waste of money..but given our history going league or cup games could be thought of in the same way too.
Do you like to travel? For many football provides them with the excuse , reason , focus to travel a bit , be it abroad or at home , to see new things, new places , meet different people..
As our clubs exploits in Europe can be written on a postage stamp..then domestic football, going the same places can become somewhat boring... Look at it as doing something enjoyable exploring new horizons , rather than a chore , from which there is no enjoyment just cost.
Personally I lenjoy travel , I've been fortunate enough to do so both with and without Stoke , and with and without football

How about people who want to buy tickets in advance do it that way and people wanting get them on the day do it if that way.... without telling people they are wrong to do it. Even If people end up in the home end then they might actually have a good time in a friendly tournament. Can't wait. This^ Though no crying by either group when Those who buy in advance find a) they regret their choice b) Allow themselves to get wrapped up & bundled into a cheaper area than they've got a ticket for c) having bought a ticket for the home area gets a smack on the chops by a sausage carrying half pissed German of course the chances are you'll have a great time or by those choosing not to buy , who find a) spurred on by the chance to easily pick up tickets , Cologne have a full turnout and the games sell out b) having settled into a nice beerkellar , you find you have to break up the party to go and get your ticket c) viewed with displeasure by the police for being as they see it a large group of ticketless drunken little Englanders , get their Irish pub surrounded and are refused to go anywhere other than when or where the police dictate. Of course the chances are you'll have a great time Though given the numbers likely to travel, 300 ish last year, this year an easier ,even more attractive trip, so probably more.possibly considerably more . So wouldn't hurt the club to make an announcement sooner rather than later..though believe they're busy selling cars this weekend Given Stokes inability to tell us anything before we've already read it elsewhere, I wouldn't be holding your breath on that one. The email I received from Cologne ticket office said they weren't selling the tickets for this game (they're available via the link further up the thread). They did though point out what would usually be the away sections. My view and its complete guesswork, is we'll not get a designated area, so it makes sense to head for the sections already mentioned, at least then we'll in the main be in one place. It would be good for Stoke to say something though, even if it's get your tickets via the link. If Cologne aren't selling tickets to their fans, I can't see Stoke will be selling tickets to us?

Alanhansen, totally agree and know that waiting for the club to provide early or full info re friendlies isn't worth holding your breath on...
Been doing friendlies and tracking them down since the late 70's ..first tour was Bournemouth , Portsmouth and Reading ,..these days , with some improvement from the club , but especially in the age of the Internet , things are a piece of piss in comparison to those days.
Not everyone will go to my lengths , and shouldn't have to , the club could help more and encourage others though.
edit: worst example in recent years ,was the friendly v Turkish champions Bursaspor in Austria 2010 ... Club were denying a game was being played right up to day before the game..Bursaspor meanwhile had cancelled their previous arranged game v a junior Austrian team , announced the game on their web site and the game was televised in Turkey...despite the misinfo 20 or so Stokies still got themselves over there and turned up for the game

Drove to Cologne for the 2006 World Cup , Sweden v England game. Overnight ferry crossing and in Cologne before lunchtime , very cheap way of getting there if you've got a car full.

I've now contacted Match IQ the tournament organisers. They have now confirmed this: We have designated a special section for Stoke supporters in “O 16” on the “Osttribüne”. Also attached you find the match-schedule to plan your travel accordingly. The ticket-link is: www.colonia-cup.deI can't post the schedule but we're playing Cologne at 3.00 on the Saturday and Porto on the Sunday at 5.45

O16!! Bummer for those who flapped and purchased tickets in the wrong areas of the ground eh!! If it's true that were playing Koln on the Saturday, then maybe it's wise to advise on here that they have one of the worst ultra/hooligan reputations in Germany! Might be an idea to tear up those tickets in the wrong areas and stick with the stoke fans!!

For those using this link to buy tickets, be aware that the DoB section is wrong. The order is MM/DD/YYYY to get it to work, not DD/MM/YYYY. Other than that, works ok. Two games for £35 not bad really. And nice to have a dedicated section for Stokies, especially since we're playing 1FC Koeln!
