When are tickets up for sale? Koln haven't given details at their end yet though 16 euros for all four games sounds like good value

I've just fed the Mrs a couple of beers in the sunshine and she said I can go I looked at doing this being in London already, London to Cologne was varying prices depending on the time but seemed to plenty of availability at around £80 each way but because of journey times 5hours+ and not knowing time of kick off we reckoned you either needed to be on the 6 50am ish train on saturday morning or go on the Friday. The last train back from brussels was after 7pm (might have been 7 52pm) so we thought it was safer to travel back on the monday. In the end we've gone for going over on the eurotunnel and staying in Bruges on the sunday night.

Strange only two matches on sale? Think the ticket is for the day, i.e. The day ticket gets you both games that day. Cologne said they aren't handling the tickets and gave me the link. So if Cologne aren't getting any tickets it's unlikely Stoke will either and tickets will have to come via the linked ticket site?

I'm thinking that FC koln will use the away end for the Stoke contingent (as we will most definitely take the biggest travelling following, plus history and reputation of English fans ha) and tickets will be available to buy at the ground! Last year at Freiburg word was going round that you had to have a ticket and that the game was nearing a sell out etc, got to the ground and getting tickets (in the away end) was a simple process! The amount of times I've seen people flapping about tickets for pre season games (I've done around the last 12 foreign pre seasons tours) and there is no need to worry.... We will all get in!!

Could this be different due to it being a tournament - ie bigger following from all clubs?

Valencia and portos away followings for Europa league games only make double figures, so I can't see that they will be a problem in taking up tickets for friendlies! I'd be surprised to see any Valencia fans tbh, and not too many Porto (I attended slavia Prague v Valencia few years back, Europa, and they took 9 fans, let alone the tiny following of around 30 that they brought here!!) pre season games in Germany tend to be popular however amongst the locals!! I'm not worried as I'm almost certain that they will house us in the away 'enclosure' due to us hopefully taking 500 or more fans! This away end will hold a fair few thousand btw!! The stadium holds 50k so there is absolutely no worry! Trust me, they ain't gonna turn stoke fans away for not having tickets, they will just sell them to you over there or you will sort it as you arrive for the game! Admittedly though, you did need a ticket to get into Freiburg, however, we just went to the ticket office ten mins before kick off and we were sold a ticket for the away end! Simple!

Anybody know the best area to stay for a hotel, not too noisy in the middle of the bars, but not full of pensioners on a bus tour?

Me and my mate booked up last night, Early Eurostar Saturday morning, come back Monday. Staying in the Ibis by the train station/cathedral. Anyone else staying here? We arrive at 12:15 on the Saturday, anyone have any idea what time the first game will kick off? Hopefully we will be there in time! Remember Cologne being good from World Cup in 2006, looking forward to this one!

It says 3.00pm start time so guessing that ll be the first game.
We've booked in the Marriot Courtyard and there looks like quite a few more booked in there too , a decent location close to the city centre and river where there are plenty of decent bars .
