I've sort of given up trying to upgrade Vista to Windows 10. i can't find the free download link via Preview. Vista came out in 2006 so your friend's PC must be pretty old. Worth also bearing in mind that Vista is no longer supported so your friend is using an unsecure OS. I'll happily second that! Not to worry. I'm in the middle of upgrading the dreaded Windows 8 (for my trouble) up to Windows 10 which, to put no fine a point on it, is taking an absolute age to install! Is it supposed to take such a time to install?

Mine took longer on 8 than 7 for some reason too.
Microsoft won't be supporting Windows 7 after 2020 so it'll be open to attackers/viruses.

Finally completed the upgrade after a slight detour via 8.1. Windows 8.1 took an eon, but the 10 upgrade wasn't too bad.
Windows 10 does appear to be a lot better and smoothe pr than 8.1, although it's early days, clearly.

Windows 10 has fixed errors I was having with my GPU regarding certain game performance. PES 2015 on 8.1 always limited itself to 30FPS and jerky video, but on 10 it's 60FPS. Though I am due a GPU and CPU upgrade now.

Could well be the case. Though I only have a 7850 and i5 2310, PES 15 used to always run well till recently. At least it's working well again. Even people with 7000 series and 400 series AMD/Nvidia cards should get somewhat decent frame rates with some of the features they support. I'll probably get a DX12 card though when they do come out.

I'm not too impressed with the new Mail app. I quite like it better than Outlook Express, imported all my accounts in no time.

I'm still exploring what it has to be fair so I would not know half of what it can or can't do. I do like it though very quick to load with my SSD boots up in 0.4 seconds ! very impressive.

Apparently Microsoft is still working with it's partners to ensure it's going to be right for my PC. Surely they should have rang AMD, ASUS and NVIDIA to make sure it's OK to send it to me by now?

Don't bother waiting for Windows Update to download it. Use this instead - Windows 10 Media ToolIt auto detects your product key and downloads the suitable version of Windows 10, then you can choose to Upgrade or Wipe the hard drive. Just run the file and it does the rest for you, won't need a USB or anything like that for this.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Microsoft claimed it could take up to a month to roll it out for everybody.

Hey up lads, as stated earlier, I'm a bit very thick where computers are concerned but can anybody tell me where my Kaspersky anti virus has gone? It was on and working before the upgrade but now I seem to have got Windows Defender Is this the same kind of thing and is it any good? if not, where could my Kaspersky be hiding? Cheers in advance for any help

I used to use Norton but ditched it for Windows 8 which also came with Defender. If you turn Defender of your Kapersky should automatically run again.
