30,000 plus in Orlando tonight. Another great atmosphere. Game was a bit of a tactical stalemate, DC never looked dangerous and we're happy to sit back and defend and hoped to catch Orlando against the run of play. City held the ball very well but struggled to break down the two banks of four. Almost 100 degrees on a plastic pitch was never going to contribute to a fluid match, in addition to the international break disruptions. All about the result tonight lads, not a gods how for the neutral. When are they going to fill the corners in ffs! The corners are filled in at the Citrus Bowl!

Paterson playing for Orlando. Unlucky to lose. Kaka free kick to equalise hits the post. NYCFC go up the other end and seal the win. Great toe poke by Larin from the edge of the box

Seeing Martin Paterson & Brek Shea on the same pitch as David Villa, Kaka and Andrea Pirlo is why I still can't take the MLS seriously at the moment.
It's like when you get a billionaire takeover at Rochdale on FIFA so you spunk it all on a big name striker and neglect everywhere else.

Cyle Larin is the real bright spark from Orlando's season. They've always been like this though, they won their last USL title 7-4 in the final after being 5-2 down at half down. Inchy hasn't mastered the art of defending and with the likes of St Ledger and Seb Hines playing there they probably never will!

Blimey, that New York-Orlando game was awesome. Are they always that good? As far as entertaining MLS is tough to beat. Skill level from 1-11 still needs some work but the fact that all of the "average" US talent has fitness levels off the charts evens it out in terms of end to end stuff.

Discount the MLS at your own danger, Bojan will be playing here in 6 years for Los Angeles or one of the New York sides. I'm not discounting it my good man, I just think it's got a fair way to go before it's considered a legitamately alluring league, such as the ones we have in Europe, it's going the right away about it, bringing in players like the aforementioned Villa and Kaka, also the likes of Giovinco, Defoe when he was at Toronto etc. are helping to generate global attention to a league which is steadily, but surely growing. However there will remain a stereotype amongst the more 'established' football nations if you will, that the MLS are bringing in these players because their own talent isn't good enough, now a few years ago I'd have agreed with this, as in general it seemed to my own personal viewing, that the American players were tremendous athletes, but limited footballers, with the exception of the mercurial Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey. In recent years though the emergence of young talent such as DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Johnson, Gyasi Zardes, Bradford Jamieson IV, Fabian Castillo, Kekuta Manneh etc. has shown that there is some promising prospects starting to emerge from the MLS, and maybe in a few years, if they can get the idea of 'soccer' to catch on with the majority of Americans, which they're trying their utmost to do, it'll start to see a steady production line of talent blended in with the imports from abroad, and the casual observer will start thinking of the MLS as a genuinely competitive league, rather than a payday for stars in the twilight of their career or as a career saver for a player that was floundering in their existing league.

BM, About 30 years late on your assessment for the NASL. This is MLS mate, different league all together. Instead of the likes of a couple of English lads coming over for a kick about and a few jars of ale like Big Sam Allardyce, Rodney Marsh, Ray Hudson, and Jackie Marsh we are getting older footballers like Kaka, Robbie Keane, Pirlo, Lampard, and Gerrard who although past their prime have taken good care of themselves and have a few years left of playing at a high level. They have plenty of fit Yanks to do their running for them and they are steadily raising the quality of the play. The off field stuff is sorted (stadia, PR, academies, reserve leagues, TV coverage, etc) so with a solid foundation only a matter of time before non marks like Bayern give the MLS the respect it deserves.

You always forget that I love watching the MLS! But the standard isn't great, that's clear to see. It's a massively fun and enjoyable league though. People will argue Pirlo is still at the top of his game but I think this is the season his legs have finally gone and it's the right time for him to move to America. Robbie Keane has never played at a high level! The only one who I think should still be at a top club is Lampard.

We lose to Hartzychoco's beloved Chicago Fire Sateeday night it could get ugly. I thought more of our supporters would have longer memories of how well Inchy has done for us, but appears many are going all out oatcake crazy after a few bad results ....

As you know I watched a bit of Orlando last season and I must admit I was surprised he was kept on. He did really well obviously but his record in England is pretty shit and the MLS is way better than the USL so was always going to be more of challenge. Also you've got the star players too and expectation, it was always going to be tough. I thought the Brazilian bloke might have made Rawlins gets ruthless and bring in a bit of a name. Obviously it never happened. But he never set his sides up to defend in the USL, it's why it was fun to watch as a neutral and they always got lots of sending offs for stupid things. It's just how he did it. It's going to be interesting to see how it unfolds.

I still support Inchy 100% and with all of these turf related injuries I can't see how any of these fickle c@nts can blame him. Some of the punters are saying he is playing too defensively these last few matches and that is why he needs to go! Besides the injuries I think our second biggest problem is how we messed up with our designated and foreign players. St Ledger, Rivas, Patterson, Matteo, and Winters were not up to scratch and have or did not add anything to the side. We have gotten a great season out of our rookie #1 draft pick striker, but it is too much to ask a young lad to carry the load for the whole season. Patto was the critical screw up who left a huge hole we never filled. I can't blame Inchy for any of this TBH. All that aside, we should be damn happy we even have an MLS side with a marquee player like Kaka, and a beautiful stadium 100% owned by the club in the works. Playoffs would have been nice, but the FO will keep their nerve and back Inchy and the long term stability he brings if they are smart. We need an English manager for this side and Inchy is the man.

He isn't doing it very well then! I can only comment on St Ledger and Pato and I think called them both tbh. St Ledger has always been dogshit and a nob, it was always an odd one. Pato in reality should rip the MLS apart but when he's fit, which isn't very often. Yeah Larin looks good and thank God he has for you lot because you'd be proper scuppered without him. With the Beswicks links and his spell on the bench do you think Agudelo could move to Orlando?
