Well done Mame - and well done (with a bit of luck) to Stoke for getting him so cheaply.
Quite frightening to see how poor value for money some strikers were who signed for their clubs a year ago. And the list of "strikers" with zero against their name is shocking.
One thing the Mail could/should have done to improve their table is to show which players (like Bojan) had their seasons cut short by injury. Showing the number of games played would be useful but that alone would not show which players missed games because they were dropped and which, like Bojan, had serious injuries.

I thought he was rubbish? Not to me he wasn't. He's not the perfect striker because his first touch is dodgy - but there are few strikers who get into good positions as quickly and regularly as he does and his work rate (in attack and defence) is top notch. Best of all, he's clearly improving in terms of converting his chances. Crouch is a decent super sub/plan B for the next couple of years and we do need another striker as competition for Diouf's starting spot (the young Argentinian might be ideal) but, for me, Diouf should be a fixture in the squad for a few years. |

Its even less than the £200k quoted as Mame scored 12 not 11. He had a very good season and as posted on another thread, he missed a month playing in the ACON and also on wing for us in some games. Very happy with his goals/games ratio for us.

EIther way not including signing on fees for free transfers in particular weakens the work a bit. |

I think Charlie Adam is pretty awful, I know he's been playing well and scoring goals but he's still not my cup of tea and never will be but I can see what good does, I just think others are better and prefer the way others play football.
I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Some players for whatever reason just aren't what some people want, it happens.

It's really an academic stat £s per goal, what matters is goals scored per 90 minutes played in a striker role. (Can someone oblige?)
Furthermore Diouf is a real pain in the backside for defenders to deal with, hence the number of bookings he has had, and own goal(s) forced, pressure he takes off other team mates, and space he creates for them.
I think there is a golden opportunity next season for Diouf to not only score a lot of goals if he is persisted with in the central striker role, but also his physicality and the runs he makes will create openings for Bojan and others to exploit.
