He could and should of hit 15 goals easily this season with the sitters he missed. Striker in missing chance shocker. Hold the press everyone, roberthuth4 was right all along. Chance or chances? Again i like Diouf, but he needs put these sitters away, Man United at home was horrific for a striker. Edit: And Man United away.

The cry aimed at very nearly all strikers, at all clubs, every season. He had an excellent season. I like Diouf, but he has missed some absolute sitters that would of won us matches. What's wrong with saying that? Begovic has cost us points all season and has been absolutely slated and giving the "fuck him off" label. Nothing wrong with saying it mate but it will have been said about all of our opponents too with reference to their strikers (with very few obvious exceptions). Strikers miss more than they score and Diouf's total is pretty decent given that he played much of the season on the wing and missed games on International duty. The fella at Southampton managed to look both World Class and absolutely hopeless in the course of one season as did Benteke. It's the nature of most strikers.

Just think how many he would of scored if he hadn't of missed that month and hadn't of been played on the wing for half the season. Haven't most his goals come whilst on the right. I'm sure some statto will correct me if I'm wrong That's what I'm saying if he had played as the main striker he might of got 15 20 goals this season

A real asset to our club, his second against Liverpool without doubt the pick of the bunch, an unstoppable strike!

Wait til next season when he bags 20 goals and the big clubs come in for him. Then all of a sudden the moaning will commence about how we are not a selling club and why can't we hold onto him .... Spot on if he was a "finished" article he would be not be playing for us. 20 Goal a season players are like gold dust. I'm delighted by his contribution this season.

He did miss a few chances. But as my old mate Alan Shearer always says; it's more worrying when a striker isn't getting the chances in the first place.
We need another striker because Walters and Crouch just can't go on forever. But if you could guarantee that Mame will stay injury free next season, I'd say another striker would be a low priority area.

Hopefully Hughes has got full faith in him now because I don't think it was there for a good three quarters of the season and we can from there. We still need to use him better with more balls over the top, more through balls and crosses but what an exciting prospect that is.

But if you could guarantee that Mame will stay injury free next season, I'd say another striker would be a low priority area. I think we would be best going for a young striker who has time on his side. Someone like Calleri, the young Argentinian (with the Italian passport) would be ideal - he could learn to play in the Premier League and be fully ready for when Crouch and Walters depart or decline.

To be fair, he offers more than just goals. How often do a club like ours manage to find a forward who is prepared to run the flanks, close down centre-halfs and put in a shift week in, week out. Oh and hit double figures. All on a free?

There's a lot more than 2 You said 2, Now it's 'a lot more'. How many then! Quote me where i said 2? They were just examples. I'd say off the top of my head at least 10 sitters which he's missed which had cost us points.

He's also scored some difficult chances. Man City away being the most obvious. People need to accept that ALL strikers sometimes miss chances. Even sitters. If he was stuck on 2 goals for the season, then he would deserve criticism, but I'm struggling to see how anyone can criticise him given his overall record this season.

The effort he puts in is second to none, if only we could get his finishing to improve we would have a world class player, let's be honest if he had been a yard further out of goal for his first on Sunday it would have gone over the bar.. Jesus christ mate

He needs Bojan threading perfectly weighted through balls into the channels to run on to.
Then we'll see the 15 goal Mame Diouf - by Xmas... :-)
