Not overlooked for one second by me.
Add the fact that he's been shifted from up top, to the wing and back again, and has been questionably (for me anyway) replaced by Crouch on numerous occasions since February, and his phenomenal work rate, I'd say he's done pretty damn well.

Nah neither of those two, they're both sensible enough to admit they were over hasty in writing him off. On Sunday after Mame's second goal the bloke behind me was up celebrating and when I turned around he said "I still think he's shit"

Mame Diouf: top striker. The amount of abuse he took from our so called "fans" continues to make me cringe. You lot know who you are. Now have a word ....

We had a bit of a disagreement earlier on in the season over Diouff He was asking for Hughes to "get him off" after about 10 mins into the first half, which he pretty much does every game to be honest!!!!!

Just think how many he would of scored if he hadn't of missed that month and hadn't of been played on the wing for half the season.

Maybe this needs greater consideration when pursuing players who may be involved in this competition?
(Just in terms of the number in our 25 man squad)
Mame has been a great buy

I don't think he was bought for his dribbling skills and control..he's a pain to play against and knows where the net is .A sidibe mark 4.0 if you will.

The only ones who overlook the ACON and the fact he's played right wing and also left wing are the ones who fucked up with their opinions, refused to see it and based it all on a couple of games
Typical of many on this mb tbh

Sidibe? He's got just under half the league goals Mama scored for us in one season. The only thing they have slightly in common is the first 3 letters in their first name!

Diouf has a very handy knack of being in the right place at the right time, he's had an excellent first season and still has room for improvement. Despite this I'm still not totally convinced he leads the line well enough on his own, I'd still be looking to bring in Austin and let them two fight over the top spot.

The effort he puts in is second to none, if only we could get his finishing to improve we would have a world class player, let's be honest if he had been a yard further out of goal for his first on Sunday it would have gone over the bar..

Wait til next season when he bags 20 goals and the big clubs come in for him. Then all of a sudden the moaning will commence about how we are not a selling club and why can't we hold onto him ....

Does anyone expect us to have a world class striker? I mean it'd be lovely but..... Only if we get very, very lucky bayern. I've been saying it for a very long time, MOST strikers don't get 20 goals a season (or anywhere near it) and, in the Premier League, most are lucky to reach 15. Looking at the evidence, I think we're much better concentrating our efforts on getting goals from a number of areas of our team and, if we have a striker that facilitates that and chips in with a decent contribution, then we'll be fine. I tend to agree with your point and think many fans keep harping on about a player we may well never have. Despite the media constantly 'tagging us' as dangerous from set pieces, our goals from corners and free kicks have become like 'rocking horse shit'.

I like Diouf, but he has missed some absolute sitters that would of won us matches. What's wrong with saying that? Begovic has cost us points all season and has been absolutely slated and giving the "fuck him off" label.
