It's a curse. I've had four or five sickening bouts throughout my life. No matter what I do it's a six week ride of varying levels of debilitating agony. The last affliction was about four years ago. I've learned to avoid potential triggers: posture, lifting, sleeping in draughts etc. I get the occassional twinge on the top of me foot and I get more serious with the stretching exercises. It seems to be working, touch Woods. Good luck with it, it's horrible. I'm not a fan of cramp either, now that in a sustained blast does come keen. Is thank wankers cramp Cheesefreak? Coz I've had several bouts of that in my time too. Nah mate not since I gave up feet wanks. It's in the legs owd, calves like house bricks, screaming and blubbering in the wee small hours. The toes curl and BANG it's an irripressable agony. It's worse after a session, so I put it down to dehydration. Wather before bed required.

Sorry to hear, can be agony Patience and anything like Pilates or yoga you can cope with to relax your back can only help, may be worth getting a physio to check your posture and gait in case abad habit's slipped in and is setting it off. If you're getting any movement probs, significant numbness in your legs or any continence issues that seem related to sciatica, rush to the doc to be on the safe side. Good luck, hope it doesn't last too long. xx

Yep, I've got 2x herniated discs @ T7/T8/T9 along with facet joint arthropothy, like an early form of arthritis. Sciatica is regular occurrence for me, I find posture helps along with not carrying things on my back. Can be debilitating! Hope yours improves

Like riding a bike with stabilisers, when i'm walking around town slightly bent forward with sciatica and mouthing the word "ooh-ooh" in pain, I find that lowering my long hairy arms and dragging my knuckles along the ground really helps. Just feels so right and birds really love it too.

Mines just gone off. Some days I struggle get out of bed I'm in that much agony, usually gets easier the more I do. I find lying in a bath the hottest I can take it and then bring my knees upto my chest helps a bit but usually just letting it run its cause for a week or so is al I can do.

It is better than it was a week ago but still hurts. Have got some exercises to do-raising the knee is one of them and they do appear to help.

I'm a nurse-I know what to do but it doesn't stop it being any less painful. I'm a nurse too mate How many nurses are there on here? I can recommend an osteopath in stone. Oh I'm a nurse too!
