And what would the final league look like under the old 2pts for a win? Exactly the same except Sunderland finish above Newcastle. I absolutely agree that closely fought draws can be exciting. But the fact remains that any points system you chose, the eventual outcome is determined by the number of wins. With any combination of 3 or 2 points for a win and 1 or 0 points for a draw, positions in the league table at the end of the season are determined by the number of wins.

Can't beat a gritty, hard-earned away point. (Apart from a win, of course) Exactly, all this negative talk of parking the bus is ridiculous. If people truly wanted to watch a sport where all out attack is the only tactic then basketball would be the national sport. There's always a balance to be had of course, which is why clean sheets aren't given bonus points.
