Er, it's when graphic design specialists use typography to convey meaning through the arrangement of letterforms so that the composition, colour and words combine to communicate more than pure or literal meaning, meaning that can be understood at a deeper level by people that share or can acknowledge the critical or cultural context. There's more to it than that but it's kinda* what fuels good t-shirt design particularly those underpinned by words.
