As we expected, there were Liverpool fans in home areas. However, the treatment they got from a couple of idiots was completely uncalled for. For a start, I don't think they were even English. They were extremely naive for wearing Liverpool merchandise and how they got a block of around 10 tickets together is baffling. The stewards didn't help matters by shepherding them out with about 3 stewards and virtually leaving them to run the gauntlet. Indeed one fan even got a smack in the kipper for his troubles which was completely out of order. They didn't make any fuss or shout any abuse yet some still decided they were fair game for a kicking. Shame on you. They should have just been ushered out and given a bit of banterous abuse. Hopefully the authorities will find these Neanderthals and rid them out of our club

Now I'm not for one second condoning that kind of behaviour but wtf were they thinking? wear away colours in the home end and your asking for it and I'd say the same if the boot was on the other foot.

No problem with away fans sitting in the home area if they're respectful. But to sit there with scarfs and tops on show is taking the piss! They all should have had a smack in it for being so fucking cheeky! And how they managed sit there for so long with colours on show is disgraceful stewarding! Them twats deserve a smack aswell

I was right behind them. I didn't see anyone get slapped to be honest. But this happens when you park your ass in the home fans section. We have come a long way since the bad old days but passion will always take over when groups of away fans end up sitting in home fans sections. Its happened to our fans and we moan and groan about how Neanderthal their fans are when you can't even sit and watch a football match. Quite simply, as I have done in the past, if you have to go into the home fans section, hide your colours and shut up. In football with its tribal ethos, we will never ever be able to mingle like Rugby fans for example.
It's just part of the game, wherever you go in the world.

I've been in home ends half a dozen times and always factored in a chinning as a likely outcome. It's only happened once but you have to have it on your radar as very likely result don't you?

can imagine quite a bit of trouble afterwards, sadly, given the embarrassment for them of the result.

Yeah not the cleverest move but still in this day and age its daft that somebody got a smack. It makes you wonder how they got past the stewards? maybe if one of them had a water bottle they may have been stopped I suppose.

Silly to do that, but some people might not know any better if they're not familiar with football culture.
If you hit someone for wearing a particular football top though then you deserve every bit of punishment you get. It's still assault at the end of the day.

Idiots if they went in our end dressed like club shop Ty Had a couple sat behind us in the south stand at the back of the row of the 2 seats next to the scoreboard, they didnt really celebrate when we scored and when gerrard scored she jumped up and squealed, her boyfriend wasnt too impressed, a steward came over and had a word, there were 3 on the other side of the gangway to them, they went at half time

Can't see that lot hanging around for over half an hour while we feted our conquering heroes. I imagine they just all fucked off back to Ireland/Malaysia/Nigeria/High Wycombe with their tails between their legs.

If our lot had done it at their ground they wouldn't have even made it to the seats, ridiculous thing to do, they got off lightly, not that its right mind.

I remember sitting in the home end of a Spanish clubs ground in my full Stoke colours. Felt welcomed not threatened.
Wonder if they got the tickets from Stoke fans, tickets were changing hands for a lot of money and hardly too difficult to give up your season card for the last match if a nice price is involved.

If you hit someone for not wearing a football top, its just as bad! Thing is they go away with horrible memories of the club for the wrong reasons, should only be smarting for the 6 goals that they had to suffer, not getting slapped. Don't understand it, banter is one thing, even abuse but no excuse for beating people up

Fucking pathetic that they would be physically assaulted (allegedly), especially if they are tourists and weren't aware of football 'culture'. I'm all for them getting chucked out but that really is poor.
There did seem to be a lot of L'pool fans in the Stoke part of the South stand judging by the footage of the goals.

I know the landlords of the pubs in penkhull were very wary of today with so many away fans coming. Thankfully haven't heard of any probs on the Penkhull grapevine

There are some very small minded people about. What the hell difference does it make where they sit? It is just a game!

Not an issue in games I've been in Germany. My other half even asked why we had police when we played Cardiff in the promotion year! (it was her first game in England, bless)

Sorry that a group of "tourists" got trouble, but how did they get so many seats together. They must have lied to Regester & if so, are culpable in their down fall. Sorry, but it's their choice, unless some unscrupulous bod registered & sold them on...

Away fans shouldn't be sat in the home end and should expect a smack if they do so. Stoke still has more than its fair share of "lad's" that don't like it.
Is it something I'd do ? NO . Is it something I condone ? NO , buts it's to be expected and unless it's the elderly, womens or kids then to be honest I have no sympathy for them . Football is territorial and anyone stupid enough to wear colours in the wrong end shouldn't be shocked when they get chinned especially at somewhere like Stoke

The worst thing I saw today was a Stoke fan with a 50/50 scarf on Was it a 50/50 scarf for today's game? I bought one before the semi-final because i don't get to see many games so it's a nice little momento. My issue comes when people continue to wear the 50/50 scarf for other fixtures, now that's just painful.

Well I guess give the benefit of the doubt and hope he rarely sees matches. Agree on the whole about the 50/50s though... Especially for league games. When I saw the West Ham game this season I saw a guy wearing a 50/50 Stoke vs. United scarf and I died a little inside
