If we keep Zonz and maybe slip in one or two more world class players, and our little genius is fully fit, I can only see four or five teams who will almost certainly finish higher than us, the shit, the arse, chelski and citeh. The rest are there for the taking. Given that Liverpool will probably get their act together and maybe Spurs, I reckon sixth is possible. Man that would be cool

Southampton have better defence than us however we can compete with them. Yeah nothings is guaranteed but we need to aim high. There's no reason why we shouldn't be above them

I think first, won't be by many points though I'd fancy us to beat Chelsea on goal difference

Great season, but we mustn't build castles in the air.
We need to hold on to the players we have got (and the manager). We need to improve the squad just to stand still relative to others. To be placed higher we need to improve quite significantly; we shouldn't get carried away by today's performance. We need luck in terms of injuries.

We're on the way up for sure, and with a few decent transfer dealings, could be a force to be reckoned with.
However, for some reason (probably due to years in the footballing wilderness), I'll be looking to reach 40 points, then push on from there, hopefully into contention for a Europa League spot (which might not be too difficult seeing that no-one else seems to want to get one).
Well done Mighty Potters, let's build the squad over the close season, whilst remembering that we don't need wholesale changes!

We need to just keep improving little by little if possible. We need to also be realistic and not turn all Geordie or West Ham if we don't quite manage 54 points next season.

6th.
Get a right back in.
Get a right winger in.
Upgrade Whelan.
Sign Moses.
And there's no reason why we couldn't. We probably wouldn't but we have some bloody special players. Soton have competed for 6th, there's no reason we couldn't.

For me, the glass ceiling is rapidly becoming the top 4, not the top 6.
We've beaten Spurs, Southampton and now Liverpool at home. To get into the top 6 we've got to stop the inconsistency.

I really hate talking about 'what ifs' because every team's got them, and for every bit of bad luck, there's probably some good fortune in there as well. We've finished 9th, and I'm happy to accept that that's where we deserved to finish.
But this season, more than any other I can remember, the 'what ifs' just seem to be shouting a little louder than normal. The three infamous defeats against Villa, Leicester and Burnley cost us a top 6 place. Add the Palace defeat and you're looking at top 5. Factor in the ridiculous amount of injuries, and ponder on how many points that cost us, and it actually starts to look quite ridiculous what could have happened this season.
We finished where we deserved to finish, but what if we can get two or three key signings who can hit the ground running? And what if we can have a stable year injury-wise? The potential for our club is actually mind-blowing. Are these 'what ifs' really that unrealistic?

7th tops based solely upon Swansea and Saints maybe struggling to do what they did this year.

Can't wait for next season, 8 weeks until it starts,. Once we have watched the FA cup final, the Champions League final, England qualifiers and a bit of the euro under 21 championships it will soon be pre season friendly time!

My prediction for this season was 6th place, pipping Spurs on goal difference. But I also predicted doing better in the Cups. I think I was a year too previous with those forecasts. Enjoying the moment.

I would be happy with just improving our points total again and seeing where that puts us. Then improving by another point or two the year after. We focus on small incremental improvements then we will find ourselves back in Europe in 2 or 3 seasons.

We focus on small incremental improvements then we will find ourselves back in Europe in 2 or 3 seasons. Well, having said that, I would, of course, be happy with another season like this. The above is what I would realistically like to see us achieve. More luck with injuries (couldn't be much worse) and a good addition or two and no reason we can't finish above Swansea and Southampton and seriously challenge Spurs.

We can potentially finish as high as 5th or 6th. Need to not get ahead of ourselves though. If we somehow dropped to 10th, it would hardly be a disaster would it? We need to make sure we at least enjoy being 9th, enjoy hammering teams like Liverpool and Spurs, because while we still have the potential to get better, this cannot possibly last for more than a few years.
Personally, I would rather finish 10th and win the FA Cup, than finish 6th and without a trophy.

With no Suarez and Gerrard and led by Brendan "its all about me" Rodgers, Liverpool will be bottom half next season.
60 points and a cup win for us next season.
We will finish top 6 at some point under Hughes and we will win a cup competition.

Somewhere between 6th - 10th although I'm slightly concerned about our central defence with Muniesa picking up injuries andthen Wison and wooly as back up.

I think over the next 5 years we should try and push on towards a Europa spot and I believe we're well capable. That result yesterday sent out a massive statement and all the haters best take note. We are improving all the time and moving in the rite direction and haven't spent a fortune. We're a great club with real fans that have literally been through thick and thin. We deserve this more than anyone.

It all depends on N'Zonzi.
Keep him and add one or two more we could challenge top 6.
Lose him and we might not even finish top-half.

It also depends on what other teams do - beneath us are some serious players who we can't discount because they've had a poor season or two. I'm thinking about Everton, Villa, West Ham and (yes) Newcastle.
We shouldn't underestimate how hard it is to get a top half finish.
