Sticking my balls in the oven on a low heat to dry them out after they got soaked up Hanley Park Duck.
My leather casey balls that is....the bastards used to fill up with water on a wet day. Anyone going in for a John Ritchie or Denis Smith style header used to end up with hair and face covered in mud. Happy days!

Cold wet and not a bite

Car maintainence. A peep out of my front door as a kid, would reveal at least half a dozen blokes with the bonnets up and fixing and checking the car. Seemed like a Sunday ritual with the faint whiff of car body filler in the air. Another Sunday ritual would be my dad coming home from a Sunday lunch drink, turn off whatever we were watching and change channels for 'The High Chaperal' then promptly fall asleep if I'm out and about and I catch a whiff of a beef joint being cooked, I'm instantly transported back to those old fashioned Sunday's

I do seem to remember that most of the lads bought and sold their cars in the local pub for sums ranging from £5 to £50 for a decent runner

Getting sent to the corner shop with a note for groceries, quite a few times with the promise they would be paid for on Friday.
