He showed with Palace and in a few glimpses with us that he was a decent enough footballer, what went wrong with him?

To be fair if he was that 'decent' he would've made something of his career, even after his stuttering period with us. Given where he went afterwards, and has ended up, he must have been flattering to deceive.

He came to us on the back of nigh on 150 games in the Championship and Premier League and doing well in both. Then he came to us and something happened that absolutely ruined him. He's established himself again now allbeit at a lower level and has just led his side to promotion, not too shabby for somebody who needs to make something of his career!

What's the consensus on Bury? Proper club are the Shakers? Yeah proper club in the shadow of the bigger Manc clubs. They have recently signed a 5 year lease to use the Carrington training facilities previously used by Man City, who have moved everything to the Etihad.

Does that mean Gigg Lane will no longer be their home ground?

Does that mean Gigg Lane will no longer be their home ground? No. They have taken over the Man City training facilities.

After 5/6 years and 150 games (before he joined us) of being an established Championship player.....something went massively wrong with us, I'd love to know what it was.

The only thing I remember from him was his amazing game against Spurs at home.

Always maintained that Tom Soares was one of a handful of players.......Tonge, Ollifinjana, Davies and Sonko who TP signed as a kind of insurance in case we went straight back down and we lost our star players.

Can't be knocking the ball about at a posh training complex like Carrington wearing that Surridge tat.

That Spurs game - Tom Soares ran the show - Gareth Bale was sent off in the 26th minute or so for bringing him down. Looked like we had the better player of the two....
... and Gomes crying on the pitch!!

Such a strange one. I remember when he played for Palace and he was such a young talented player. He had bags of skill, the potential to run at players and twist them inside out. Tony signs him and all of a sudden, he's never given a chance. As Mickmills said, he ran the show against Spurs yet wasn't he dropped the next game?
Very strange, really could have been a useful player if actually given a chance.

I always thought the capped one thought he was too light-weight and asked him to hit the gym
At which point, he bulked up too much and lost most of his pace and movement...in other words..he got top heavy
This rings a bell but as to whether it's the truth, whole truth and nothing but is another matter

He made a wrong move coming here though, he had bags of potential, and we ruined him.

Not really sure why Pulis ever bought him, he fits into that catergory in my opinion, along with Tuncay, Michael Tonge, Owen, Andrew Davies and Arismendi (to name just a few).
He always looked ok when I saw him, bearing in mind never really got much of a chance.........good luck to the lad
