There are lots of methods of wasting time in a game. Annoying late substitutions is only one of them. Goal celebrations, feigning injury, deciding who takes a throw in, etc. this time wasting is sometimes done just to stop the momentum of the opposition as well as running down the clock. Highly trained top professionals can play for longer, let them do so, give them more subs, sin bin them for crimes against sporting integrity, give the spectator what they want, more goals. Let the flaffing begin

Exactly. It's ridiculous to bring a player on in the 90th plus minute. Mourinho brought on two players, I think it was against Arsenal last week, in the 92 and then the 93 rd minute!! Slows the game down and wastes time as the refs hardly ever had any more time on for it. So, if a player breaks his leg in a compound fracture in the 90th minute and there are 10 minutes of added time to be played and his team have not used all their subs, you would not allow a sub to replace him because it is late in the game? Oh well, you are entitled to your opinion but it won't make much sense to most fans. That's an extreme case and how many times has that happened over the years??? It would be a price worth paying if it improves the other 99% of games.

Let's stop the clock! Not literally, and not in the same way as gridiron. How much time is the ball motionless? From the time it takes a ball to go out of play and the corner kick, goal kick or throw in to be taken. Add free kicks, drop balls, penaltys, restarts and injuries, goal celebrations, bookings, sending offs and substitutions? 15 minutes, 20 minutes? Extra subs. Extra game time, extra half time break or even a game of 3 periods, kick off continuing on to the return fixture or purely by the toss of a coin. Either way, I'm sure 2 hours of actual game time could be managed. There would be a longer half time or end of period break. Meaning more adverts for the T.V. games, definitely more goals and more value for money for the fans Tinker away
